The GTX 1060 is slightly more powerful then the GTX 970 but 3 GB VRAM is really low, especially for modern games. A lot of newer games have 4GB VRAM as a minimm requirement with 6-8 GB VRAM for higher settings. High Resolution Texture streaming needs a LOT of VRAM.
The 1060 GTX exists in a 6 GB VRAM variety. If that one is not much more expensive i would recommend that one. If its too expensive then go for the GTX 970, its still a very nice card.
Using it myself for the past 2 years.

According to benches they are both about the same. With newest drivers and especially on the Pascal optimized games and DX12 games it runs noticeably faster with the GTX 1060.

But 4GB is bare minimum nowadays. So the best choice would be to take a 1060 6GB.

the 3gb and 6gb version have a 80 pounds difference which i cant afford, the 1060 3gb seems like its holding up on new games on high - ultra , i only play to high, and plus im, upgrading from a 650ti lol

gtx 1060 3gb is it good?
dont even mention the 1060 6gb i cannot afford that card this is solely about how good the 1-6- 3gb is. anyone using it? what fps are u getting on your fave games. i ask because i may buy

gtx970 only really has 3.5gb vram anyway (the last 0.5gb is super slow or whatever) so might as well go with gtx1060 3GB. In the worst case you might not be able to max out texture quality in games with 3gb vram and will have to roll with high... Not a big deal.

1050 ti or 1060 6GB
Ignore the 3GB. Pretend it doesn't exist.

970 is also an option or 980 if you can get one cheap

GTXx50s are always the low budget versions of the GTXx60s
The 60s series are most likely multimedia cards, perfect for a home cinema, streaming and so on. What makes the 60s bigger than the 50s is the partial gaming character.
So the ti behind the 1050 is nothing more than decoration for a gamer.

Anyawys neither the 1050 or the 1050ti nor the 1060 are meant to be used as a high end gaming card.

Dont waste your money on one of those if you want to save money go for a GTX980 or a 980ti instead of a 1060
The 980s are still overpowered as hell as long as you don't stream your gameplay or anything like that

As i already posted into your other thread...
Dont pick a 1050 or a 1060 for gaming

A 1060 is right about the same as a 980. So don't think the 1060 isn't powerful.

But ignore the 3GB version.
