There is literally no end. I've clocked in over 1800 hours on Steam and probably another 500+ hours before it hit Steam.
That said. I wouldn't try to force yourself to play one game for 1000 or more hours just to say you played a game for 1000+ hours. Play games you enjoy. Don't limit yourself to just one. If it starts to feel like a chore, stop playing, take a break.
The roguelike genre is also great if you're really into challenging games with a lot of replay value.

Warframe has an extremely fair F2P model, it's rather grindy later on but super fun. I mean seriously, space ninjas, what more can you want? Grab the Glyph launcher for it though, it doesn't play nicely with the steam overlay. (which is why it isn't in my played games.)
Path of Exile is also a very fair F2P game, and especially awesome if you like Diablo. It has a similar seasons structure, but the way that active and passive skills work makes it extremely replayable. Be warned that it's hard as nails later on, and respeccing your passives is...complicated...enough so that it's simpler to roll another character than respec.
I find myself popping back into Defiance from time to time. It's gone downhill somewhat, but still has an active playerbase (mostly on its own launcher, not in steam). The netcode is kinda gnarly though, especially during open world events so your milage may vary, doubly so if your internet isn't great.
If you're looking for a more standard F2P MMO...Star Trek Online is....a point of contention for me. On the one hand, the game is actually really, really, good. The the F2P model they use is....not. Unless their player driven ingame to paid currency market has gotten a serious overhaul without me knowing. It's worth a look at least, maybe you'll find it not as....offensive absurd insane...stupid...as I do.
GW2 has tons of dynamic PVE and PVP content and is constantly expanding. What's really great is the leveling system. It removes most of the dull run here, get this and run back type of quests. Quests can be completed dynamically in large areas or zones without running back to a NPC in most cases.
It's got an engaging story too. What's really, really great about it is that the content scales. So if you're a higher level than an area, the game scales your level down, so you can still do the quests but you'll get XP and items that are equivalent to your actual level. This is great if you're playing with someone who is new.
There are multiple racial starter areas, so you can do the quests in all of them and you're not penalized for playing lower level areas. So you could run quests with a friend who just started playing and not be penalized and you won't be killing 100 monsters with a single hit either.

playtime is relative and some steam users prefer to fake it for some reason.
i have 787 hrs. on Dungeon Defenders (lots of grind time).
other games top at 100-300 hrs. until i'm loosing interest.
the only games i have a 4 digit number in are Guild Wars & Guild Wars 2 (quitted both).
MMO and high-skill online FPS games are the easiest to put tons of hours into.
Warhammer End Time Vermintide!
Team Fortress 2
probably payday and r6 siege later.
You want to talk about a bad community? Go look at CSGO. (Not 1.6 or Source. Those communities are chill)
Otherwise it's low settings for you.
You claim that you quit TF2 last year and yet you're still playing it. You also claim that scammers and hackers ruined TF2 and yet you also actively play CSGO which also has quite a lot of scammers and hackers.
I don't really play it much anymore though. I'd say Cities Skylines is my current main game, but I have way less than 1000 hours in it so far.
