How pre-release review
How some can put a review up prior release?



There's various games with a pre-release review tag, so yeah it's possible, but how they do it? And it's not about early access as early access games reviews have their own tag too!

Each time I try it gives an error. Not sure how some can?

I'm almost positive you can't unless its an early access game.

Not possible until the Game is officially released on Steam.

Developers will sometimes give out copies prior to release. SOmetimes as promotional giveaways.

Even with these copies it doesn't work.

Mayhaps the best way to find out then would be to ask one of the people who made one of the pre-release reviews

Early-Access reviews count as pre-release previews as well. After the game has been released.

This. To write a pre-release review, get the game before it's released. That is, get it on Early Access.


Both have their respectives tags :s

These are reviews that were written by people who got a game key before its launch. You cannot write a review until the game comes out, but curators can still recommend it and Steam tags the review so you understand they most likely got the game for free or have already been playing it before its official launch. Same with early access reviews and reviews that mention the dev/publisher gave them a free key.

Even with game key prior launch that can actually run and are playable give you an error message to wait until it's released to review. Yet some games clearly show a pre release review. So how they do it?
