Non-VR game sorting, or keeping VR and Non-VR separate
I'm the new owner of an HTC VIVE, and still play Non-VR games too! This is a message to any Steam Developers, we really need a better sorting system for VR and Non-VR games! Either please allow to sort by Non-VR, or just keep them both separate! Hope this gets picked up quickly by the devs and dealt with! Below is the Steam support transcript for completeness.

Hey, I recently purchased an HTC VIVE and am loving it. Problem is, now that I downloaded a bunch of free games, I can't easily see which games are non-VR. You currently have a section for only VR games, so could you put in a setting so that I can see all my non-VR easily at a glance? Thank you!

If you are talking about the library view you see in Vive, it is filtered by default to show only VR titles but if you look to the far right, you can see this filter, just uncheck VR titles and your entire game library will display just as it normally does on your monitor.

Also you can create shortcuts to any game ( I know this seems redundant) and if you right click on the shortcut in the Steam library and click on settings or something similar I forget, you should see an option to view this shortcut in the VR...this will allow this shortcut to display by default with the VR filter checked

At any rate, the filter will allow you to view specific types of games if you wish.

Which didn't answer his questin AT ALL. You can ONLY show the VR games by themselves, there is no option to show ONLY the non-VR games.

Why would he have the headset on while playing non-VR games ?
Check your library again, you will notice that all of the VR-titles are listed in the non-VR section as well. The VR-section does not have any non-VR games, but the non-VR section has everything. No way of separating them out.

I thought he was saying he could see none vr games instead of vr games when hes using the vive

Personally i manually sort all my games by category, sports, fps, racing ect ect. If you look at your whole library, obviously you will see all games, vr and none vr

If you had wanted to help, why didn't you read any of what he wrote first then? He even mentioned what you wrote in the original post to clarify that's not what he meant.
I am wondering this myself, since I also would like to have a way of viewing only the non-VR games, particularly when I use my Steam account on a computer without VR capabilities.
I have seen no "non-VR" category in the filters.

Don't apologize for trying to help, that's very passive aggressive.

From the OP:
"Either please allow to sort by Non-VR"

"You currently have a section for only VR games, so could you put in a setting so that I can see all my non-VR easily at a glance?"

Which is pretty hopeless when you have lot of games, and you want to play a 2R game but have to scroll through dozens of VR-games to find it. Don't see why they had to mix them up to begin with.

what your seeing is your whole library. Its easy to just find a game you wont to play, if you wanna play a nine vr you click on it, if you wanna play a vr game you click on it and it starts steamvr. If its a big issue to have your whole library on the 1 page, just manually categorise your games

I'm going to assume you meant non-VR, but how is it "easy" to see which is which by the method you described?!
Especially when you have to scroll through four or five pages, where 80% of them are VR-games, the non-VR games drown out. Manually categorizing each and every one of them is a bit tedious. WHY can't they just be on separate pages ?

As i said i have all my games categorised, so the problem your having is not a problem to me. if i wanna play a shooter, i just click filter, click fps and all my shooters show up, simple. If thats not an option for you then i suppose your ♥♥♥♥♥♥

How would that help? A FPS game can be both VR and non-VR, just like any genre.

can do this.

natteravn, thanks for seeing the real issue here. It's true I -could- manually tag everything, but why not just make it easy for everyone? I downloaded like 30 VR games to check them out, and my 3 or 4 purchased games are now a bit lost. So, looking at the big picture, someone who buys a lot of non-VR games here would have any VR thrown into that list, yes?

My point is there should be separate categories for each, or a sort option to make things easier. Nice if you have time to manually tag each one, me, and others, may not.
