Buying a Steam key from a 3rd Party Seller only happens when someone wants to buy a game at the sale price, but doesn't want to wait for it to go on sale in Steam. If Steam just puts everything on sale all the time, then none of this would ever matter.
Because, let's face it; nobody wants to buy a gift at full retail. ;)
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, this is the dumbest thing I've seen Valve do in a while.
On the plus side, it's going to save me a HUGE amount of money since I would frequently buy multiple copies of the same game and save them to my gift inventory and then pass them out to friends at a later date.
Now? I just won't bother.
