It's because there's only one listed for sale. They could set any price they want. Sets of Brazed cards only run about $3.00 (.60 per card) so you could craft your own for much less but it still probably wouldn't be worth anywhere near 30 bucks. It's worth only what people are willing to pay. I'll doubt you'll find many if any people who would pay that much for a background that doesn't feature anime boobs.

They regularly sell for $30. There were 5 yesterday. Even the buy orders are somewhat high. Generally speaking buy orders are 50% of the actual sell price...

It says 2 were sold yesterday for 29 bucks. If you look at the lifetime price history for it, it's very volatile and extremely low volume, roughly about 25 sold it looks like.

Maybe, it's just a super awesome background. Then again, maybe someone is using multiple accounts to engage in a little price manipulation. Or both.

I tried the crafting thing for a rare background for hockey 2014. Made 5 sets and didn't get the background. Last time I ever tried that.
