I and very amount of players play and buy in Steam!!!
See to sales of Persona 4 of Atlus or Final Fantasy series or Tekken/Soul Calibur
EGS dont give you big amount of money!!!
It is very similar to the recent street fighter collection.
My list of of ten bad aspects:
1-Since it is a Neo Geo Collection, perhaps the 2 neo geo pocket games could have been featured. The 2 Neo 64 games I understand that could be problematic, since SNK lost the source code.
2-Samurai Shodown V had its story mode translated for one of the console releases (I think it was Xbox) but this version is the arcade one. If you play in Japanese, it has a real story mode. If played in English, then it is cut. They could have ported back the xbox content. I mean, they did a brand new translation for v perfect.
3-I think the museum mode would have worked better as a separate module, a bonus of sorts, that you can disregard by uninstalling or choosing not to install. Dont get me wrong, its filled with some high-quality and very interesting content, but once you check it out, you may never want to revisit it. It makes the game increase a lot in size, but with practically zero replay value.
4-They did a good job enlarging the sprites, but the scanlines still look a bit odd. I know its never perfect, but I have seen some solutions for mame that offer better results. Its by no means terribly looking orcapable of hurting the eyes. But, still, it could have been better.
5-No AST available? To me, once a Neo Geo CD owner, this is a big letdown. The AST of Samurai Shodown 3 is tremendously good, and leaving it out of this collection is a gaming crime. This is the kind of thing that perhaps they could take into consideration and fix it on a future patch. Add the option to use AST whenever one happens to exists. Yes, it will make the game bigger, but the museum already made it gigantic for basically a collection of old roms.
6-I think too much fanfare was made with V Perfect. It is in reality a very small update to V special. The story mode appears to be identical to all of the characters. Only difference being a portrait at the end and 2 pages of text. I wont pretend that it isnt good to finally have access to an unreleased game that was a kind of rumored urban legend, but I did not expect the changes to be so minimal. During the late 90s and early 2000s SNK was basically living of updates to Metal Slug and KOF, and then Samurai Shodown. But this update in particular is so anemic in terms of new material that it is actually embarrassing. The game could have worked better as an "expanded" mode inside V Special.
7-I did experience a few bugs. Sometimes the narrator would speak his lines twice. Sometimes the move-list would become unavailable, only for it to become available on another fight.
8-Anyone with access to a MVS or Neo Geo Home System (I dont like to call it AES, even though even SNK does it nowadays) or emulated versions of them had more options, like changing the speed of the timer in the games, or changing idiom to spanish or sometimes brazilian portuguese, or decide if the game must feature blood or not. When people are just a few clicks away from resorting to emulation, I think its better to get ones priorities straight and focus on giving at the very least the same amount of options that emulators offer. A much more urgent need than the totally superfluous museum.
9-I could not find the option to use the keyboard as a fast way to create or load saves. Its a good thing they were able to be implemented, but having to pause the game and manually navigate the options is something so dumb that only a console-minded individual would think of. QUICK LOAD/QUICK SAVE, please!!! And more slots too.
10-You can not use the mouse to scroll down the text in museum. Very uncomfortable. They could have at least broken the text in pages that you could pass by pressing a button. Again, same problem as before. Lazy developer created the title thinking about consoles and their interface. If they are going to release it on the pc as well, they should have taken advantages of the keyboard and mouse for certain functions. Wasted opportunity, but one that could easily be fixed with a patch.
Off all the problems I encountered, I believe most of them could be fixed without involving astronomical costs to the developer.
Im a steam user, no less of one than he is, and he does not and can not (although he jests and deludes himself that he can) speak on behalf of all of us.
Their criticism is clearly destructive, resentful, irrational and coming from bad will.
They dont believe in freedom. Of opinion (they try to bully and intimidate anyone dissenting), of companies deciding their own future, or of consumers thinking for themselves on how to spend their money.
Trolls just serve to make the place a toxic environment.
Is it trolling to say the new Samsho still hasn't arrived on Steam, while it's been on consoles for nearly a year? The game has launched on virtually every platform other than Steam.
I think we all know who the real troll in this forum is.
