Is Amnesia in the same universe of SOMA?

Could someone clarify that for me please? Amnesia Rebirth has been the first amnesia game that I played (very good game) and I read out there that it is in the same universe as Amnesia but in the future.

I think it was meant to be in earlier builds but it was changed.

Originally SOMA was much more horror based in a Matrix type environment with machinery performing experiments on humans. The idea may have been to have the shadow from Dark Descent getting into technology.

According to the devs, no. They don't share the same universe.

Possibly. There's enough shared themes and visuals between Frictional's various titles that can unite them under the same cosmic horror world. Rebirth has a bunch of bulbous growths resembling the WAU's healing nodes, and the WAU itself may be powered by an orb. But I prefer the connections remain subtle so that people don't get caught up in insisting every game be a sequel to another.

It still takes place before the SOMA timeline.
