Outsourcing confirmed - Not a Frictional game
Rebirth was published by Frictional but outsourced to Talespinners - Quote from their own homepage https://i.imgur.com/1jir7Rr.jpg - "Our Work. Amnesia Rebirth. Coding, Direction, Narrative Design, Story Design, Writing" - . Frictional need to get their in house creative team back.

Anyone else getting RE3 Vibes here? Almost zero news or footage until close to release. People go "What the heck happened?" - then you find out after the fact it was third party. Great.

Amnesia: Rebirth is developed by Frictional Games. All our titles use some degree of outsourcing (this includes TDD as well), but the vast majority of the development is carried out by our team, and all the creative control is at Frictional Games.

Talespinners was co-founded by a long term member of Frictional Games' team, who worked on SOMA and still works every day, their majority of the time, at Frictional Games.

All people who worked on the game are properly credited in the game's credit.

Let this put an end to this discussion now.

They can't. The person left. I suspected as much regarding the outsourcing all things considered.

I mean, It's still a Frictional Game, all this proves is that they hired a different writer, which had to be done either way seeing how (at least from what I hear) the old one left.

i loved the Lore Rebirth had to offer, got me pretty interested. Had by far a more immersive experience as in TDD. Although nice to have this great connection inbetween those.

Yep. Its a progressive liberal arts company, not a horror writing team.

Damn, makes you realise how valuable Mikael Hedberg was to ADD and Soma.

Isn't it crazy how much research a consumer has to do, to get the right information? A lot of people thought "It's developed my FG, it's going to be awesome." But the fact that the story has been outsourced to another company, remaining hidden, it's crazy man.

I suspected as much when in the first hour of gameplay, the game throws 2 inexcusable tropes at you. A note has a random character in the crew talking about how much he misses his children. Ah, the classic horror trope : "Make the character talk about his kids so we pity his immediate/inevitable death".
Forcing you to feel something for Salim's death. It really felt like a novice's work at crafting a story.

P.S. You gotta stop talking about liberal/progressive/SJW stuff. It makes it easy for other people to strawman you.

Yep. Want to make a horror game so hire a couple of 21 year old liberal arts students who write teenage romance. That makes sense right?

What is wrong with you people having to make up lies just to create some artificial drama/enemy figures? Are your lives so ♥♥♥♥ that you have take your frustration there?

Because thats such an obvious lie, the game wasnt outsourced to Talespinners, because Talespinners isnt a games developer in the first place. They hired them for the story, either to write it, or to improve on the writing, and Ian Thomes was already working on Amnesia: Justine, the Amnesia DLC.

The entire rest of the game; the pacing, the horror sequences, the jumpscares, visuals and many more things was all done by Frictional.

And the story certainly isnt the games biggest issue.

" 21-year-old teenagers "certainly wouldn't deal so much with the topic pregnancy. Here were adult developers at work, who invented an experimental horror game in order to specifically address the female players. Unfortunately, this has not been explicitly clarified in advance - in order not to lose any potential buyer. Certainly more interesting for women than for most male players. In addition, unfortunately, too much emphasis was placed on the topic of "pregnancy" and not on the horror elements. What a pity!

Yeah that's the issue. Nowhere did Frictional indicate this was third party, I had to go digging around for a while just to find this.

I think the claim that the game was made to 'address the female players' is stupid, unfounded and frankly, insulting. You mean to tell me that you can't empathise with a woman? Does this mean you couldn't enjoy Alien: Isolation ?

Or is it cause of the focus on pregnancy? In that case i would say that it is more to do with how they presented the pregnancy, rather than the pregnancy itself. I found the constant lullabies to be obnoxious.

If you really feel that it's for women JUST BECAUSE the protagonist is a pregnant woman, i really don't know what to say. I'm baffled really.
