Game is just not fun - refunding
Im a HUGE fan of the Dark Decent game.

Was hoping this game would be as spooky...

o my....

70 minutes in and im just bored...im not willing to put in any more time or effect in the hopes that i t may get better. it just feels like im doing a chore at this point, and only playing it for the hopes that something may potentially happen.

What a bad game.

I thought it was obvious the game was just translating French into English as you read an English sign and a guy said "I don't know french".

People are saying it's SJW propaganda because it includes a white woman in a relationship with a non-white man and an (far as I know) only implied gay couple. I don't think Frictional Games included them only for progressive brownie points, but even if they did I didn't find it obnoxious or intrusive. It's not like the gay couple is shown Tom of Finland style with rainbow flags everywhere and the female protagonist quips about overthrowing the patriarchy etc. I definitely wouldn't say she's weak because she's perservering through all this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but she's definitely extremely vulnerable and at her lowest point.

I don't agree with the pressure put on games to have a minimum of X people of color or women included or be cancelled for being problematic because that stifles creativity. If you want to make a story where every character is some blonde Scandinavian princess wearing a flower crown and knitting socks for her 12 ethnically homogenous children, go right ahead. If you want to make a game completely opposite to that, also go right ahead. But calling every game which includes different ethnicities, sexualities etc. "SJW propaganda" is just as stupid as calling every game which doesn't "problematic, racist sexist" etc.
First: Thank you for actually explaining this to me, unlike everybody else.

Second: THAT'S ALL?!! THAT'S WHAT PEOPLE ARE PISSED OFF ABOUT?!! Who's the snowflake, now?!!

You're absolutely right, it was not shoved in our faces, it wasn't shoehorned into the story, and a lot of it was flavor text, especially in the case of an interracial couple from Europe, kinda makes sense for a region as ethnically diverse as that where you can drive for an hour and suddenly everybody speaks another language. I WAS a little confused about how accepting Tasi was about the gay couple given the time period, but then again these characters aren't all from the puritan-dominated US so I gave it a pass.

Wow. You took a game issue and somehow managed to turn it around so you can insult a nation over trivial game drama. You must be british.

Wrong, I'm a teacher in America that's taught American history. The puritan beliefs are so embedded into our culture they're almost invisible unless you take a step outside.

Damn I'd hate to be your student. You must be trying to teach all the white kids how they should feel guilt over their ancestors actions.

he didn't nailed it correctly. You cant get emotionally connected to muslim couple because you are suffer from islamophobia.

Funny how there's no christianophobia, hinduphobia or Buddophobia. Maybe you should question your religion instead of the people who dislike it.

what are some examples of these puritan beliefs?
Sexuality in nearly any form as taboo
Bodily shame
Religious persecution as well as a belief that we are also being persecuted
Christian references literally being in our government writings and procedure
Alcohol seen as "evil"
Extreme emphasis on punishment and rejection
Extreme value placed on how hard somebody works
Censorship
Public education system
Broad acceptance of divine predestination (literally have a president who many claim is "chosen by god")

Again, these things are so normal to us, most people don't realize that's not how much of the rest of the world works. When you actually STUDY the rest of the world, and our history in that context, it's easy to see what we really are and where we came from.

The only part I didn't have "fun" with was the maze with the metal insect arms or whatever they are. Couldn't find where to go, got caught and went to wherever I needed to go after losing it. Like the game said; "Here you go you wittle baby. What's a matter? Can't get past the sca-wy monster?" >:-/

Not being able to figure out what to do was frustrating. But that's the point of games. You work through something difficult and THAT is the reward. Giving me a free pass is a bit of an insult.

As for any political/moral bent to this game, I'll look at that closer after I've finished it, and can have another go at it. But I can kinda see some... opinions... sprinkled here and there.

Edit: So far, I really like the game. Yet, there is one thing I'm wondering about, which I'm certain will be revealed by the end of the game. Hmm... I wonder if she is in her 3rd trimester? lol

Yeah....they dropped the ball on that. I thought we figured out last decade that mazes are not fun.

Maybe SOMA was too hard an act to follow.

If they were trying to follow-up on Soma it should've been a Soma game, but no it's an Amnesia game. This game does amnesia dirty.
SOMA as a piece of horror media, not an IP.

Every game is an IP, since IP includes trademark, copyright and patents.
