+some nicely designed things that look ugly by the renderer
-bad visuals bcoz of crappy renderer (they should have switched to unreal long ago)
-annoying main character and poorly built relationship with her child/husband, with complete absence of building a relationship with the expedition team
-poor game mechanics
-predictable jumpscars
I dont understand why people say the story is good. In my opinion Frictional completed ♥♥♥♥♥♥ themselves over with revealing most of thing that were mysteries until now. Like about Tin Hinan or the otherworld that Alexander lived in.
So yeah if I would give it a rating as a sequel it would be like 4/10 and 7/10 as if The Dark Descent would never exist.
+Good Storytelling
+Gameplay mechanics that IMO are better than Soma
+Better Puzzles than Soma or Machine for Pigs
+The environments are still dark and compelling (scarier in this dept than Soma)
-not as scary monster encounters as TDD or Soma
-Not as memorable as any of Frictional games previous efforts.
The lighting effects are incredible, the art is very HR Giger
Story is HP Lovecraftian and Philip K ♥♥♥♥ esque as usual
