Will they make a sequel?

Probably not. Didn't Three Rings go out of business? This seems like it's something kept up at this point because whoever owns it now simply forgot it existed and they pay for it.

It's owned by a company of former OOO employees, albeit a lot smaller than its former self.

I've been saying for years there is massive open market for a niche MMO RPG game similar to Puzzle Pirates and Sea of Thieves combined. Set aside the puzzles even, there is something about the political, economic, and social systems this game created that is very good. Imagine playing Sea of Thieves in a larger open seas world with longer voyages, jobbing random pirates, random encounters, controlling islands for resources, Flag politics, and the sheer joy of wasting your extra coin in a poker match and getting to hear the actual reactions over VOIP. This would quite literally be the biggest game on the planet if created with server meshing for vaster populations. Consider also it seems like Sea of Thieves has reached the end of it's creative cycle, And Puzzle Pirates has reached the end of the it's mechanical appeal. That being the puzzle games no longer attract a lot of base players.
