There are lots of ideas on things, like a community run companion twitter to do things like announce the puzzles of the day, the in game events etc. Or do more cross media engagement into TT, YT, Twitch, etc. Right now I am not acting on any ideas I might have until I hear that the game installer is smoothed out. Maybe the last update was a technical debt update? We can hope?
although it shouldnt be the community's job, the twitter is a great idea and presence on streaming and just youtube in general is definitely lacking. id also like to see some solid targeted ads on facebook, instagram
And maybe some small things to help players come back after a long time without playing, or encouraging new players to stay
Bilge is a great gateway puzzle.
i cant keep logging on to 10 people on cerulean and keep trying to solo making like 1k an hour. you meet a greenie or two and never meet them again because theres just nothing to do. i cant believe id pilly for 2 hours and would feel a rush if a single person applied to job. i was there for weeks and the only blockades were against NPPs because you probably cant even get enough people on for one afternoon to do a real blockade
none of the old stuff is fun. building a fleet is pointless. getting a shop is pointless because you cant employ or sell to anyone. getting a house, or going to the inn is pointless because theres no one to socalize with. no one pillies 22/24 hours of the day. its $10 a month but i feel like i should be getting paid to be on
i cant do the dub stuff where you spend $150-$250 (pretty much just two days of minimum wage work here) and get everything you ever wanted and just get stuck playing poker. i need to be able to feel something, not just buy it all. and im not gonna work 50x longer for it when i can buy it
but yeah, maybe someone will emulate it and polish it for the 2020s. ive come to accept that those glory days in the 2000s will never happen again. it was just a different time. its sad, but its not hard to move on when you see theres literally no hope, especially with the dev attitude of just "keeping the lights on". the more i think about it though, the more obvious it is that this can be a hit mobile game if integrated correctly.
I think there could be a way to get engagement with social media. But with someone actively griefing the Dub Exchange on Meridian, the only Ocean that can really welcome new pirates is Emerald. I am so mad about the Meridian Dub Exchange exploitation.
Which may still be worth it if any of them switch oceans, but how often does that happen?
thats crazy how you can even grief a dub exchange. social media campaigns are such a common sense thing, i dont know what the devs are waiting for
honestly, i guess everyone on any ocean other than emerald just has to bite the bullet. i decided id rather play with dubs than keep wasting my time on cerulean, and im a lot happier now. cant believe theres always at least something going on on emerald, was on a loaded war frig for a blockade and just had to crack a smile
The bots are a huge issues.. I've seen island populations jump by the hundreds in one day yet nothing is done and still the same population playing. they tried a mobile before (just for Ipad if I remember right) in 2013 and pulled it in 2014 I don't know why.. this game would probably come back to life with a mobile platform but they just don't seem to care anymore
i know what you mean. ive been told to not even bother complaining about how they dont do anything. its pretty insane to take a decade long break and come back to pretty much the exact same game with way less people. it would be nice if they made it open source, but i suppose they know we would take this over nothing
it makes me not want to spend money in game over fear of them getting into my accounts and banks etc.
We're in Steam. Steam can use PayPal. If you are really worried there are a variety of pretty low-effort ways to make sure a purchase never gets near your actual accounts.
