Since then, there's also Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 and 30XX that have come out, and you might also be interested in Berserk Boy.
Appreciated, but actually i was meaning in theme like Mega Man Zero. :)
Not exactly the story, but generally setting like world etc. But still appreciated. I need play Luminous Avenger.
Its more of a spinoff of Azure Striker Gunvolt (released after 2, but before 3), which also feels like a continuation on some world ideas from ZX, like having bosses that transform, or the main series having a resistance type situation.
Gravity Circuit is also very close, although much lighter in dialogue. They clearly took story beats directly from Zero 1-4.
Make sure to switch the language settings from English to Japanese (English).
All this does is change which text translation is used, as the game does not actually have English voice acting. Doing this just flips it from the old translation that cuts out more than half the dialogue, to the new translation.
You'll know you did it right if there is text dialogue while you can move and play the levels.
Gunvolt stuff has always felt like it spun off in an entirely different direction, and as a MegaMan X fan is absolutely not in the same universe of what I look for.
I'd absolutely suggest 30XX because if you pick Ace it uses a lot of Zero tech, and you can also mod the game with modern pixel MegaMan X sprites.
Although yeah, they are very experimental. So it doesn’t really feel like you’re playing a Mega Man clone, more like heavily inspired but with new characters with their own gimmicks.
There’s no X style character, and even their sword characters aren’t Zero clones either
Someone else also mentioned Gravity Circuit which also has its own original moveset, but how they use the chain rod is similar to Zero 2 but much more effective

If you want a game that closely echoes MMZ, I'd recommend this more than any of Inti's later output.
(Not to diss Inti's games, though. Gunvolt 3 is one of the best games I've ever played. But Gunvolt isn't at all like MMZ)
And as others have cited, Gravity Circuit is an extremely good game.
