Suggestion: Multi-monitor support
From the screenshots it appears your plan is to put the extra DS screen in a small box in the bottom right of the screen.
As an alternative, I would like to suggest supporting multiple monitors so the extra DS screen can be placed on a secondary monitor.

Or, how about supporting a mobile app to display the extra screen, with touch input?

They have several different layouts that you can choose from for the second screen, but it doesn't appear they have second monitor support. That would be a cool option.

Smartphone support would be cool but it's obviously never going to happen. Secondary monitor support would be cool too.

And crazy enough, I think that would be a first, as I do not believe any DS emulators floating out there support multi-monitor.

The app would be too much work, and I don't think it would be more practical. Looking at a different screen/distance and taking the hands off the pad, more specifically.

there's already a desmume fork that allows independent primary/secondary screen resizing to facilitate dual monitor use

there's also a way to split primary/secondary screens in citra with a little bit of tinkering

Having support for two monitors would do wonders in easing some of my concerns with how the ZX games would play! Sounds like a cool idea!

The game has come out and it only has options on where to put the sub screen on the primary monitor, no multi monitor support.

Capcom should seriously consider adding support both for displaying the sub screen on a second monitor and to support the mouse, even when the gamepad is active.

And considering that you can't use the touchscreen in handheld mode on the Switch version...
