Zero-Series... is it good?

I love the classic MM Games (including the gameboy games & SNES MM&B), I like the X-Series (except X7 ).

A questions to those who played all those games, how good is this collection of games? Never owned a GBA/DS, but I consider risking a buy.

Yes. VERY good. I consider them to be the very finest 2D action platformers ever made... except the first one.

i would say its the best one besides zx (oh and that's also in the collection.) and hornable mention to megaman legends

megaman zero 3 probably the greatest megaman game of all times.

also if you do get the collection PLAY IT ON CLASSIC don't play it on hand holding mode that they threw into the collection.

play it the way it was ment to be played i.e everything in the game wants to kill you.

believe us that we say that megaman zero is one of the best if not THE best series of megaman so far.

challenging but resilient to let you play it, amazing soundtracks and good story,
this was for much people the only collection to get from all the megaman series.

Doesn't really subtract anything from the game, though. At worst it's just a very situational and gimmicky addition.

The gameplay is very good Zero 1 and Zero 3 are the best in my opinion. Mega Man X saga is my favorite and I personally prefer to consider the Zero series non canon as the story and art design sucks but the gameplay is really good beside the OST.

Why I say the art design sucks? Mega Man X was the evolution to a more mature adult appearence art style from the original Mega Man series, and later the Zero series return in a even more childish look less detailed designs, but is just my personal opinion.

How does the Zero story suck? It's much better than any of what the X games offered, which was just Sigma being the main villain (except in X8, but that's not canon). Sure, it does have it's dumb moments like how the Guardians were "killed off" in Zero 3/4 because of them being forgotten. I agree that Zero 3 is arguably one of the best out of all the Zero games, but Zero 1? Why? It's such a grind compared to the other 3. It was an okay game and I enjoyed it, but the later games improved so much on the game play. Especially Zero 3. And the art style is a choice to distinguish from the X series. Not a big deal. They both used an anime style.

There's practically nothing that's better in ZX than in ZXA unless you enjoy the even more cookie cutter main characters and a metroidvania game where the whole metroidvania aspect actually does more harm than good to the game.

Because it's the one that was the most popular back in the day, simple as that. Actual quality compared to the other games in the series is not important in cases like this.
