blank cards on final level?

Is it normal for lots of cards on the final level (for light ending) to suddenly go blank? They turn into empty blank rectangles with a glowing pink border. Or is that a bug? I've had this issue since buying the game.

That's the ability of the boss on that floor, it masks cards so you can't see them

Ah, I see. I had finally gotten to that last level with the lantern ox (or whatever it's called), and after killing the boss, I decided to hit at least the rectangles that didn't show up any damage in the mouseover. But one of them was a harrower, and it started targeting multiple positions at once. I tried to dodge out of the way, but there weren't enough cards in the ring to give me space to do that, and I died. If I had just gone through the portal once I killed the boss, I would have finished!
