question about what is considered a win in this game

Is the proper "end" of a game considered one trip around the ring (and then it resets after level 16 with way harder enemies)? Does dying on that second loop mean I still won the first or am I completely wrong?

I got stomped pretty hard on one of the first levels of the next trip around the Ring, but I'm not sure if that still counts as a win since I made it through level 16 for the first time? Do i need to go through multiple times to get to a proper final boss?

You don't do loops, that was the boss.

ah ok thanks. I got thrashed pretty good on the second round after level 16 so glad that was already a win.

Sorry, I meant that you died before beating it, because the whole part after is the boss.

You get an achievement (the first time for each of both paths) and the credits roll when you complete a run.

cool! i'm still learning the rules so I probably should have been on the hunt for credits in the first place. But damn level 17 stopped me after I trashed through the first 16 levels, such a great game too.
