Report a translation problem
And I cannot get it to replicate.
You tried again to no avail?
Did you try restarting your computer or steam?
What does the crash say?
I thought of disabling my antivirus in case it was being nitpicky. After doing so the game started without issues. Then I enabled it again and started the game without issues. Went to check the antivirus report and there was nothing new. I have no idea what happened or how it was fixed, and I'm not even sure if the antivirus was the problem.
By the way, my antivirus is Bitdefender Total Security.
Glad it works now!
Something I didn’t look back then was the “debug.log” in the game folder. I checked it this time and it looks like this:
May 14, 2019
May 15, 2019
May 24, 2019
I have no idea what it means, but maybe there is something else going on too. I’m using windows 7 Professional in Spanish, so some of the error descriptions are in Spanish. A translated version would look like this:
May 14, 2019
May 15, 2019
May 24, 2019
May 24, 2019. Safe Files off
The entry “Settings version is not 1”, shows up regardless of Safe Files being on or off. The other entries are with Safe Files on.
It’s an easy fix (turn Safe Files off), but I’ll leave this here in case someone else has this problem or in case there’s something else contributing to the error.
I previously stated that the antivirus was part of the problem and that I found out a way to make it work. However, the problem wasn't 100% fixed.
Currently I have observed two situations which end up with the game crashing:
- The first involves starting the game, reaching the main menu and waiting without doing anything. This always results in the game crashing. In order to start the game again I have to use the task manager and close any ”game.exe” process that I see. If I don’t do this Steam will tell me the game is still running. A workaround is quickly loading a save or quickly starting a new game, this way the game doesn’t crash even if the game is idle.
- The second involves a very long play session. After a few hours of gaming the game crashes.
First, I have to say that I’m not a big fan of cards games, I enjoy them and play them from time to time, but I prefer other genres. Due to this, I don’t play this game frequently and my feedback is not the best. For now, I can say that upon reading your comment I gave the game another try and reproduced the first crash at every attempt.
Now having said that, I believe the problem could be quite deep and be related to the technology used to build the game and not the game per se. I remembered that I had problems with a game called Metamorfose S. That game was built with Construct 2, an engine that seems to be based from the same technology “nwjs” (html5 ?), or at least that’s what shows up on the process description of both games (using the task manager).
If you check the Steam discussions of that game you will find a similar bug report I made. That was quite some time ago and I don’t remember every detail. However, I remember having problems getting that game to start.
Of course, I have zero evidence to support my hypothesis and all of this might be just a coincidence, but is a coincidence worth checking. If anyone knows cheap/free games built with the same technology, I could test them to verify whether my PC has problems with it or not. (By the way I think I had a different antivirus back then, so at least my current antivirus didn’t cause the bug back then).
It always boots up on all my PCs and Laptops.
Even boots up fine after I uninstall it and reinstall it on a MAC.
I appreciate you lending some information on this Darth.
It was produced with RPG Maker MV, which is built upon Javascript.
There could be something in your systems that blocks the use of it or limits it permissions causing it to crash.
I had to switch nwjs versions a little while ago as the other one had a slight memory leak when cache images blocking menu items from showing.
Well the thing I forgot to check was running the game in Windows XP (Service Pack 3) compatibility mode. Guess what? it doesn’t crash anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Running Steam on compatibility mode works too. I hope this time the problem is fixed for good.
By the why, I was already running the game and Steam as an administrator when the game crashed.
Thanks again for the information!
Already running both the game and Steam as Admin, I'll try what darthkemenner posted.
Edit: I can confirm that the game runs perfectly fine when I start it in "Windows XP (Service Pack 3) compatibility mode".
Ok! Time to enjoy your work!
I will blame my previous problems on Panda Cloud Antivirus - which has caused NUMEROUS other problems.
Looking forward to finally being able to play your game!
