From what I can tell, it is a single player PvE game with a train involved in Siberia and hopefully optional PvPvE

I will reserve judgement on the quality of the game until it is released.

I am looking for fun/smart alternatives to the overpriced Tarkov game.

Well, it won't an alternative to Tarkov, because it's nothing like Tarkov. And I highly doubt they will ever put PvP in. Multiplayer? Maybe. PvP... Uhh, where, why, what for? Also, calling it a "single player PvE" is absolutely redundant, considering most, if not all single player games that involve fighting against... Anything really are by definition PvE games.
