Cant get GFWL to Work

Hello Guys,

I really love Bulletstorm and short after its release I played it so so many times. Now some years later I'm on WIndows 10 and want to play it again, but I cant get this game to work. ♥♥♥♥ GFWL for that :D With some tips from this Disscussions here I could finally pass the "zero day check" and get into the game. But the Games for Windows Live popup wont open ingame, so I cant log in and the multiplayer doesnt work. I want this game to work like some years ago. I know that gfwl still works, but I cant figure it out how to get the Menu ingame back. I installed the latest gfwl version, but cant get to the login window. It says I need "windows ID service" I tried to install this serveral times, but it didnt work. In another Game like Batman AA the Menu works. I think I maybe broke something with deleting zdp folder and such.

Is there anyway to get the game working with gfwl on win10? Tried it the whole day. The "release date check" at the beginning wont connect corectly. I only could get the game working by the Tip above but without ingame gfwl.

Its really sad, that EA gives a ♥♥♥♥ about this awesome game. Peope can Fly should return to work ;P

btw EA does not get a say on the game, they do not Own the IP and People can Fly are dedicating their resources on something else, rumour is that it is Bulletstorm 2 although nothing is confirmed yet.

If they do (which is great), I hope they will send some love to Bullestorm 1 and remove this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ called gfwl. And then I would love to see a Bulletstorm 2 *_* Thanks for answering, I will look into this fixes

I fixed it somehow. The removing of zdp, and such things definitly is the key, but to install the latest patch with 150mb isnt. This time I removed the folders, and installed the first 8 mb patch, and finally the game launches with gfwl overlay. Im so angry and happy at the same time. I wasted a whole day, but finally its working.

Are you guys saying you were able to get Bulletstorm to work on Windows 10 and successfully log into GFWL? If so, can you please provide some more details.

I was able to get MK Arcarde to work with GFWL on Windows 10 but not this game.

Yes I did. The Game is running with the normal gfwl popup and I can login. The Problem is I cant say what I did step by step, because I tried to figure out how to fix this annoying Problem.
The main problem for me was, that I could not start the game because of the awesome "Zero Day piracy" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. So the Game was unplayable. Really fast I found the Thread I posted in the main Post . Again : http://steamcommunity.com/app/99810/discussions/0/412447613574401266/

But before doing this, I updated the gfwl things, first deltete the 2 components which get installed with Bulletstorm, then install the new ones with gfwl updater.

What maybe helps to is, to install Windows Essential . (but Idk if this really did something good)

So after I updated gfwl, I did those things in the thread I posted above. On the given wiki page of the Thread Creator, I downloaded title update 1. The only 8 mb patch, extracted it , and after deleting all those zdp ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ , I installed this little patch. Then the Game startet and for my surprise the gfwl popup came up.

I think that was the "trick" to use the 8 mb first patch. Before this , I used the full 150mb Title 3 patch. Its no problem btw. as soon as you log in, gfwl loads the missing patches . I would be really interested if the 8 mb Patch did the trick. Tell me pls :)

so in raw:

1. Install Bulletstorm (Be angry about ZDP)
2. delte gfwl-->update gfwl
(windows essential)
3.delete zdp stuff in bulletstorm folder
4. littel title patch 1
5. log in while in game and patch .

I hope this finally is a short possibility to get the game working with full Live services.
Sadly there were no Multiplayer sessions :(

Maybe I will retry it too tomorrow on a different computer (dont want to toch my holy gfwl anymore :D ). If it really works, I will maybe make a quick step by step. I'm really glad there a so many good guides out there for the game. But a direct tutorial how to get Bulletstorm working on Win 10 with GFWL login doesnt exist I think. Maybe we can bring one together . Tell me if it really worked for you

ill try it soon. I don't want to mess up my current GFWL setup for MK Arcade collection. I figured if it would work for one game, it would work for all GFWL games but not the case. Stuck at that same day zero activation or whatever its called.

Also you might find the same fix has also been put into the guide, thanks for the post but copy and pasting the same thing over & over again in threads which were over a month old might tell you one of four things.

1. They got it working

2. They Gave up

3. They want multiplayer

4. They forgot they made this post

Yes you are right. I got it working with Mulitplayer with gfwl, so for me point 1. and 3. are correct :D And I didnt forgot the post, I already posted that I got it to work :)

I thought i had everything researched before i bought this off ebay for 5$, had the xlive.dll and all that plus the title update downloaded but turns out wouldnt let me install the title update. The Deletion of the zpd folder is what saved my day. After placing the xlive.dll and xlive.ini in the win32 folder (of the game folder, no windows) and deleting the zpd folder, the title update 1 installed fine and the game just launched with no issues.
