The only issue I seem to be having is that the GFWL client (either standalone from the MS site, or the in-game overlay) will not currnetly recognise my username and password. It's almost like the auth server isn't responding correctly.
I know that I've got the correct information for the account, as I can login to the Live (and XBox) websites with those details.
I can try poking around in the Windows Firewall, and my anti-virus, to see if there's anything in there interfering with GFWL, but I have a sneaking suspicion that this might be something else entirely.
Remind me again why anyone ever thought GFWL would be a good idea?
Microsoft did.
In later years they gave up on it in favour of a new version, most people of our genration however are staying away from that one, once bitten, twice shy.
If the firewall is no good, try one of the workarounds or get a refund mate, there was a time when I would help people to things fixed, but that was before the Steam refunds system came into place and the news of the Re-master was gratifying to hear.
It is a good game overall but alas GFWL puts off many people as you can see why.
I've had run-ins with GFWL in the past, but this is the first one that I've not been able to solve relatively quickly (hence why I'd already tried re-installing the separate GFWL client from the MS website).
if you have used GFWL in the past on that specific computer, you can try this crazy fix.
This works only for people that previously have used GFWL in the past, if the data entered in was there when you logged on, just simply untick the box to remember the login deatils, then erase the login info, click login ( it'll fail). Then re-enter the login info again the first but do not tick the box, if it works you can re-tick it on the 2nd login.
This is one of the problems I had when using some GFWL games after the partial switch off.
Do not allow the game to install any GFWL stuff. Get the lastest online (which you already have) create an offline account (needs no email adress or anything else) and enjoy the game
Not a crack, just a file that disables GFWL and allows the game to save in SP mode, the crummy online feats will not work. Just so you know.
Piracy has its points, to fix things devolopers refuse to fix I have no problem with, the other thing they do however is not right and they should purchase the game, they can crack it as much as they want after as far as I am concerned to get around GFWL.
If people keep doing Piracy we eventually get no good games and it promotes more DRM as a result. For an example take a look at what happened to the first version of the Pirated Game Dev Tycoon.
Wait for the re-master if GFWL puts you off
Previous users of GFWL tend to have better luck than new users
If that is the case you can either use a workaround or refund the game
