anyone else struggle to get plants?
mostly saying because the last few worlds i made i just never got plants to evolve naturally no matter what... even with near to max level or hard dirt (all the way to large patches with red) i still never got a single plant to evolve... any ideas on why? and any solutions for the dev if not? (btw i set both currents and wind to be basically 0 too and average heat so its not that... same with water levels being fairly high in the ground)

Plants need to evolve from algae which means mutations. Once they appear you can pause the mutation rate to make sure said plants survive and not die our.

ok have you also tried seasonal changes?

Interesting... in my last few worlds I was annoyed by plants evolving independently all the time, and was thinking about decreasing the chance (not anymore now I read this). Are you by any chance willing to send over the world where plants don't evolve? I want to see if I better understand why.

I've had this problem a couple of times, and I've noticed a pattern where it seems like there is a correlation between how much landmass there is and how deep the oceans are, I think it might have something to do with the availability of shallow water? More limited shallow water means less space for competition which makes it less likely the conditions will arise to make the jump to land?

Just a theory, I've only seen it happen a handful of times.

ye... i tend to have a few islands to see diversity between plants so might be that

You are talking about the tidal zone : irl, tidal zone is the area which is either above or under water depending on the tides. And indeed, the bigger the tidal zone is, the higer chances of plants and animals evolving to go in or out of water is. You can see that in a couple work of xenobiology. Try looking for biblaridion, he is explaining that well. Since in your island worlds you didn't made big tidal zones, you got low chances for plants to evolve. And since wessel is making worlds with massive tidal zones, he is getting a lot of them. The issue is just coming from world design.

maybe... oof

Now that i read again, i'm thinking : what about changing a bit the way the world is generated to take into account the tidal zone ? And sliders so we can change the amount ?
