Right?? I'mma be honest: whilst the combat is fundamentally fun, the mobile phone game "gear score" garbage really put a massive damper on the entire experience.
It's not fun to have artificial difficulty scaling enforced upon us by arbitrary numerical values on equipped gear. What the heck happened to regular aRPG levels and levelled zones?? They're tried and tested (a 4 decade-old formula perfected) and they're not innately time-wasting. All this gear score crap does is manipulate players into wasting time scavenging for intermittent GS progression.
How *fun*. Doesn't remind me of Bungle's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ "infinite Light Levels" butchery at all (sarcasm).
Massive rectified this nonsense with the Warlords of New York expansion and it *works*. It's fine and fun and a massive step-up (ironic, since it's simply a return to form) from their former gear score system! Why can't Crystal Dynamics do the same?
Not a single new gamemode which is actually replayable.
Focusing on a new player experience when the game's lacking content, variety and fun.
Sure, new players might come, but are they gonna stay? What for, exactly?
Farming the same repetitive missions all month long to unlock a single skin?
Biggest issue in the entire game, asides from the game being garbage. And the "one hero a month" mantra being totally forgotten about. I was going to play when they added Dr. Strange. Since that's never happening, I no longer care.
Yeah even then when you gearscore in mobile games it feels like your character is vastly superior to starting out.
Gearscore in this game, even when 90% maxed to a perfect build, feels like my character is only 20-30% better and pigeon holed into using one mechanic.
It's like they HAD this game but have no real intelligence in how to implement upgrades for the characters outside of the skill tree.
They should just make the stats bonkers at this point. The game IS dead and the few people who play it are just newbies or diehard MCU fans.
