Will I still be able to buy the game after March 31, 2023?
Yes. The game will remain available for purchase digitally between March 31, 2023 and September 30, 2023 and at retail while supplies last. No new digital purchases of the game will be available after September 30, 2023.
What happens to digital and physical copies of the game after support ends on September 30, 2023?
After September 30, 2023, Marvel’s Avengers will no longer be available for purchase digitally. The game will continue to be playable for anyone with an existing physical or digital copy of the game after that date. However, after September 30, 2023, we can’t guarantee that we will be able to address issues that occur due to unforeseen circumstances.
If instead they decided not to remove from store, a constant playerbase (of at least 3 digits) would be kept. But I guess they just plan to make it offline with time...
They don't have a choice in the matter, it's due to licensing. Marvel games always have a temporary license and once it expires, they get delisted.
The same thing happened to all the older Spider-Man, Transformers, Ninja Turtles and X-Men games when the license previously belonged to Activision. All these games are now gone forever.
There are no online servers, it's a peer to peer hosted co-op game, not an MMO. But if a bug pops up and makes the game unplayable, it won't be fixed as the support ends on September 30th.
It's really not, the story in the game is decent and there's over 25 hours of it. And you can play the game with friends too. 6 bucks is a fantastic price for it. I paid 80 back in the day and got over 500 hours of fun for that, and I don't regret that either.
But I agree it may be worth to buy just for the campaign alone.
Yes like any delisted game you have own you can at anytime redownload it and play it.
The Xbox version just went on sale for $3.99, and it's a "Play Anywhere" title so it gives you the Microsoft Store PC version too. But you need Gold/Game Pass Ultimate to get the discount.
It's $4 on Green Man Gaming right now.
