Is a Square Enix account still required?

I remember reading that you had to create ANOTHER account to play the game, even in solo mode, but the Steam store page doesn't mention anything?!

If anything, I'd just want to download, launch and play the game without any additional launcher or account nonsense required.

So yeah... is that now possible?

I just booted the game up on pc for the first time. Had played it on PS4. I don't remember there ever being a "requirement" but it has been awhile since I first played on ps4.

I did not have to log in to any other accounts when loading the game. It is possible that Steam already had my information saved from other games though.

Usually any extra login is just for a small extra thing like a skin or something. Batman Arkham Knight had that as well. You don't have to link an account or anything, it was optional.

Hmm. I just looked it up on the PC Games Wiki and it says that it requires a Square Enix account with the note: "Tested on a Steam account not linked to a Square Enix account. Game will not progress to menu without linking."

Maybe they removed it, since Square Enix is no longer the publisher?

Yes, the Square Enix account requirement was removed and the Square Enix login servers for the game are gone now.

So....once the game is delisted and everything.....it will be playable or it will be like babylons fall ( you cant pass the title screen cause servers doesnt exist anymore)

Avengers used a server only for the marketplace, otherwise it never used a server to play online( as the player is the host when playing with other people), or just to play the game.
