You'll also have to customize the other graphics settings a lot. Optimization doesn't mean you'd no longer need to do this, as even on high end systems the settings need to be customized based on what your target framerate is.
Bug fixing has continued to be a regular thing, currently we're waiting for the patch version 2.5 that is set to arrive on June 28th and bringing a new playable Avenger with it.
Haven't played since 2021 but the game was mostly locked at 60FPS with FSR, looked great and ran smooth.
I think I may have forced on Adaptive VSYNC (NVidia CP) so that drops below 60FPS (for 60Hz monitor) disables VSYNC (screen tear but not added stutter). For Freesync/GSync I'd just set an appropriate FPS cap so framerate doesn't fluctuate too wildly.
I remember starting the game in 2021 and seeing huge STUTTER if I couldn't maintain 60FPS using VSYNC (60Hz monitor). So your main focus is probably still to avoid that stutter via Adaptive VSYNC, Freesync/GSync or whatever...
If you have a 144Hz monitor that does NOT have VRR (Freesync/GSync) then you should consider forcing "Half Adaptive VSYNC" in NVidia CP (for that specific game). That drops the FPS cap to 72.
A lot of people get avoidable stutter so understanding VSYNC is the single most important thing a PC gamer needs to know.
1. I have a 2560x1440, 60Hz monitor
2. I normally aim for a locked 60FPS, VSYNC'd experience
3. Dropping below the FPS target while using VSYNC causes added STUTTER. Sometimes it's really BAD like it was for ME in this instance.
4. I experimented with a combo of high/ultra etc. but couldn't maintain 60FPS without causing an obvious drop in quality
5. Then I tried FSR. I was surprised at how well it worked in this game. Some combo of High/Ultra and FSR Quality and suddenly I got a mostly locked 60FPS. I would have tweaked more but it was so solid I didn't bother.
I don't play Multiplayer. So I can't comment on that.
(I also plan to get a VRR/Freesync/GSync monitor. I did buy one but it had issues so I gave up for now. But people should be aware that VRR doesn't "just work" flawlessly. But in general, I'd use VRR with an FPS cap... So for example, if you a 1440p, Freesync monitor and can AVERAGE around 70FPS on High/Ultra then I'd probably just lock to 60FPS using game or video control panel, with VRR still, as that not only makes the FPS fluctuations less for a more consistent experience, but it will also cause the GPU fans to make less noise... and for faster-paced games 90FPS+ is the way to go likely.)
Yep, FSR is a big game changer with the cards which don't have DLSS. It even enabled me to run Guardians of the Galaxy comfortably at 4k with ray tracing enabled, on my OC RX 6800.
