MA on Windows 11 crashing - Possible solution found
Yes, It is very early days for W11 as it's just released to the public today but so far MA is the only game that has issues with it.

On W10 I had zero issues with crashes but since W11 it crashes randomly stating about the graphics driver. A short search revelead nothing for W11 but the Internet is full of issues in W10 about this.

I have the latest W11 Nvidia driver.

I am not looking for answers (ofcourse if you have it then please) but are there any more out there having issues since W11?

Otherwise I might roll back to W10 wich is fine by me.

Oh and MA via Game Pass

UPDATE:

So it's not Win 11 or Nvidia driver related. Every other game i tried works flawless (ie. Control, Cyberpunk, RDR2, etc. etc.)

I managed to solve it on my end without changing too much. After some extensive testing I can now play the game hours on end again if i wanted to. I will outline my steps so you can try it. I am not a internet go-around poster so if it works for you spread the word.

First off my specs: I7-10700k (no OC), RTX3090, 32 GB Ram, running the game from an Samsung 970 EVO.

Ok I could consistently crash this game during Thor's mission 'Mistaken Identity' when entering the AIM bulding. After changing the following everything, including some HARM training etc. etc. works fine.

Steps I took:

- Force the game to run at half my refresh rate in Nvidia panel at 72FPS by selection program specific settings.
- Disable all AA-settings in Nvidia for this profile.
- Open powersettings and edit them. Look for PCI Express then Link State Powermanagement and make sure it is set to 'Off'
- Start the game and from the splash screen go to settings.
- I only lowered shadows to high, turned ON V-Sync (yeh i know) and enabled DLSS on performance mode. Everything else stayed on very high/high and on except for Motion Blur but I hate that anyway.

Ran the game and finaly no more crashes.

Try it out and I hope it works for you as well...

Is it the DX Device_Hung error or the out of resources crash?

I've seen a lot of people complain about crashing on the GP version of MA compared to the steam platform. I could only guess that and being tied with the early release of Win11 may create some issues until they figure out what's causing it and hopefully release updates for it over there...either for the game or the OS. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yep the first one. It must be W11 related because before the update to it I could play it hours on end if i wanted to.

So far it's only MA having issues so not rolling back to 10 just yet.

Have the same issue with Marvel Avengers on Gamepass running Windows 11.

Worked just fine on Windows 10. Hope for a fix soon.

Yeah, seems that W11 doesn't have the same level of driver compatibility yet as Win 10.

Well I am seeing more and more reports pop up among Nvidia site, Reddit etc. etc. so hopefully it gets picked up and solved. For now all we can do is wait for a patch or driver update or roll back to W10.

I've been running W11 since release to the Insider Rings. I've had a couple of crashes with Avengers using it, but across 100+ hours of play time it's not been particularly disproportionate. (Which isn't saying that people aren't finding issues I personally have not come across with system differences etc.)

A lot of the people with the Win11 crashes though are GamePass users, not Steam

Yeah, was replying more to thread title than the potential big common factor you mentioned earlier in the thread.

Good point. I am seeing this as well. It's related to GP and i've updated the title. GP versions (looking at you The Ascent) tend to be wildly different then steam.

The device hung error isn't just a gamepass issue it is still present in the steam version today.

It's less prevalent here than it used to be though. Would be weird if all the fixing that has beem done for the Steam version wouldn't work as well on other PC platforms though.

I'm kinda curious as to who is responsible to the PC version of Gamepass when it comes to fixes & what not? I'm wondering if it is Xbox/Microsoft that are responsible for that since it's on it's own platform with crossplay between the two?

I guess it would also be the same for Epic Games & Google Stadia having to support their own version to maybe? I know that Nixxes handles the Steam edition, but im really not sure if they handle all other PC platforms as well as that would be kinda weird since they now fall under the Playstation family umbrella.

Well as a reminder. It worked flawless for me on W10 for hours on end. Just since W11 it's 'back' so to speak.
