Why make a looter with boring loot?
Anthem did exactly this as well. TBH I dont even see how you could make loot exciting in an AVENGERS game in the first place since you cant exactly give them "new" weapons etc. For example Thor cant be given a new hammer.

Which is why I wonder, who green lit this idea... It was obviously going to be average at best and terrible at worst, pity it turned out terrible.

Diablo 3 started out bad, but kept a player base because the loot was fun at least. You saw the items on your character and a new shiny weapon was awesome, especially when you equip it and there it is for all to see...

This has items that nobody cares about, they have confusing stats, NOBODY cares about. This should have been a single player game (like Spider-man or Batman) that you could play co-op if you wanted.

I hope Disney never let Square or CD near their IP's again.

They literally copied Destiny.

I kinda agree on the loot. The design of it feels quite lazy especially when it comes to exotics, which are from what I've seen identical to legendaries.

I agree that the loot feels tacked on particularly in the beginning. Once status effects/damage types get added at least you see an effect. Since they are not going to change your appearance all of the loot should have a tangible effect when you swing.

I disagree about Diablo though. Loot in diablo 3 was garbage in the beginning. It was designed around the real money marketplace and at a certain point the drops were so rare that you had to spend gold on getting an upgrade.

At least they made combat fun here. Maybe more exciting loot will come if the game survives the bad launch.

Vaults should shower you in loot or at least materials. It should be loot candyland. They are like a janitors closet that they decided to move a few things into.

I don't think it's giving a new weapon as much as it is upgrading a component of it. Like for Mjolnir, it's the wrapping on the handle. Still, agree it does feel a bit tacked on after the fact.

Here's another bad thing about loot.
If you get a +crit or +stun on a piece of gear, it's rarely for all the attacks.
So basically the gear forces you to execute a specific thing (combo finisher, aerial juggling, and worse of all power attacks) to get the desired effect. This limits your freedom and it just plain SUCKS.

I found so many epics better than legendaries that I dont even want exotics that much.

No. They didn't copy destiny loot wise. This game does the same mistake Anthem did, which is make earnable loot not actually change the overall look of your character because they want to sell you skins. The visual progression of your character through earning loot is a big thing in games like this, and they completely ignored it for the sake of MTX.

Not to mention the awful stats some items give. Trinkets that give bonus rep increase??? Tiny percentage chances to proc for extra damage? Higher ranged damage on the hulk? Increasing damage resistance on black widow? Just completely half-assed.

Also in other games, after you reach a certain tier (power level in this case), you stop getting low quality loot.
In this game, at PL 130 you stop getting Uncommons but you still get Rares.
And the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up thing is that you get Rares with huge stat boosts. I regularly get Rare gear with +50 to some stat and Legendaries with +30.
How does that make sense to anyone, is beyond me.
You also get ranged gear with melee stats and perks.

To be fair I cant even imagine how many items would they have to make for every character, they went the more lazy way this way. Also maybe Marvel/Disney does not want them to change things on heroes and let them use only complete skins.

This

Same problem, whats the point of using hard earned upgrade modules to make your 130 legendary 140 when you get a drop of 130 epics that is better in stats in every way and your 140 legendary becomes trash. The only reason I can see is achievement or just being closer to challenge IV and 150+ challenges to not die quick.

Bro i literally JUST watched that review. In that segment he explains the different ways in which games like destiny implement loot. One case is the visual aspect. Marvel's Avengers does not have loot like helmets, chest pieces, pants etc that change the look of your character. This means playing for better loot isn't that satisfying in this game. Nor does it have loot that changes up the playstyle of a character. Loot in this game EXCLUSIVELY serves the role of giving you more power. That's it. This is why it's boring.

And you can't even upgrade Rares to 140 so you're forced to use a lesser gear piece of higher rarity.
Also what exotics I've seen (because I didn't find a single one in 137 hours) are really underwhelming. They don't give you huge boost stats or any ability that's outside your character's skills or other item's perks.

Then you didn't listen to it. Start at 16:10.. then come back and tell me it isn't copied.

Dude he said that a lot of the game's aspects are copied from destiny. Things like the central hub, the reputation missions, the loot vendors etc. He did not say the loot system is identical to Destiny. "Then you weren't listening" isn't a good argument. Give me a time stamp where he states that the loot system is the same as destiny, because I can give you one where he says IT'S NOT. 36:10 onwards. dipsh*t
