Spider-man is in every Marvel Mobile game and he is a primary character featured front and center in Ultimate Alliance 3 which came out AFTER the Ps4 Spider-man....

Sweet Brian's is right, they only own film rights and nothing more. Sony probably offered Marvel, Square or CD themselves a boat load of cash for the exclusivity. Leaning more the publisher on this.

In any case no one would want their fav hero made exclusive. What if Black Panther was Xbox only then pc and ps4 people would be upset. They either need to make Spidey timed to 1 month or so of release on all platforms and let Sony have exclusive skins or something.

As many have rightly said it isn't true that Sony hold the rights to Spider-Man across all mediums.

I think the last non-mobile video game that featured Spider-Man (as well as a number of other Spider-Man characters) was Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 which came out last year and was published by Nintendo.

The devs could have refused sony's request, the game isn't owned by sony, there are multiple things they could have done but refused to do.

I think the person above is justifiably unhappy at the OP for being wrong. It more shows the ignorance of the OP that they just assume Sony owns everything related to spiderman without actually doing any proper research and then posting on forums claiming things which are far from true. Also does not help that pc and xbox players are now learning that they are getting an inferior product for the same exact price as ps4 players. Its like if you bought the same car as your neighbor for the same price but yours had features removed from it like an ability to roll down your windows or AC. It would justifiably piss you off, so the above poster has some justifiable anger towards Sony and the OP
