Says set in Brighton, but is set in America
Why tf does it say that the game is set in Brighton, but yet its actually set in America... like why call the place the name of an English city, when its actually set in America... would've been funny if the game was set in Brighton considering that its the gay capital of England lol, im going to Brighton next month in August to visit gay pride there

The city of Brighton is a fictional American city in the fictional state of Franklin.

The game was originally supposed to take place in Boston. Which is why this name can be found in the game files.

Everything else in the game is American, too. Including the laws and police code of conduct.

Apart from that, many city names in Europe also exist in the USA.
Sometimes even more than once.

So to claim that just because a FICTIONAL city has the name of an English city, it "must" or "should" take place in the UK is very strange.

Please take another look at the word: fictional

If the game is set in a fictional location: then they should've called the city something which isnt such a well known real life location.
It seems strange to me that i live just a few miles away from Brighton (in England) and yet the game is set in America lol.
And to make things even more strange (or funny actually); they decided to name the games location after a location which is the gay capital lol

Well known... To the British.

I live near the city of York in York County. Across the river is the city of Lancaster, in Lancaster County. In York is the borough of Hanover, the borough of Shrewsbury, etc. Up the road a way is the city of Reading. There's a Rome, a Paris, and numerous other towns and cities named after other places. Including both a Brighton and a New Brighton. New York (state) has like 5 Brightons. Alabama has a relatively major city named Brighton, with close to 5x the population of the UK version.

french devs making it US based for consumers just like japan and everyone else did for the last gen (except for russians)

also, 1312 don't forget that. Why follow their ideologies when it's inhumane?

Why do Americans always call us 'British' instead of just calling us 'English' lol, calling us 'British' is so strange, everyone who lives here calls ourselves 'English', but Americans call us 'British' for some strange reason. Like... i always tell people that im English, i would never tell someone that im British

I did some research on this and was surprised to learn us, Americans, seem to have originated in England…..the first colonies had English names, so if the fictional city of Brighton is up north, it makes complete sense.

The world doesn't revolve around your tiny island anymore, you uncultured swine.
How does that not get confusing, but i guess putting the state on the end helps alot where as here its just City-England/UK. Also to be fair, it would be pretty boring to play British cop simulator compared to American, the media dosent really put your cops in a good view, but this game seems to try to be realistic minus the bugs, not bought it yet, just trying to decide.

You have to think of the US as not one big country, but 50 roughly UK sized ones. Every individual state might as well be its own country. They all have their own sets of laws, culture, and such. Same reason most US citizens are not well traveled out of the country. Where a few hundred kilometers can put you in another country, I'd still be stuck in the same state I'm already in. It's over 1000km just for me to see the ocean.

does the US have a city named "Valentine" and "Saint-Denis" ? Lol

Indeed. I admit I wouldn't have known that either.
That should explain everything.
Including the reason why Boston is mentioned in the game files.

Proof:
https://www.google.de/maps/place/Brighton,+Boston,+Massachusetts,+USA/@42.34412,-71.137699,13.71z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x89e378483b5c31c5:0xfd7fd88ae77a2b18!8m2!3d42.3489143!4d-71.1604919!16zL20vMDN2bGo5?entry=ttu

But also funny, because Boston declared its independence from Great Britain with the Tea Party in 1773.
