I also noticed that you get a CP deduction if you find switchblades in the truck and want to punish them.
Something similar happens with broken-down vehicles with expired license plates. These also lead to a CP deduction.
Ironically, you can breathalyze them the same as if they were in an accident, but can't enforce expired registration. I can KIND OF see the similarities of a break down and traffic accident, however, I don't think there'd be justification for DUI checks unless there was signs of impairment present.
Also wonder why I can't automatically search a vehicle I tow, or is that only if the vehicle has been used in commission of a crime? I thought officers were required to inventory vehicles prior to transferring custody of the vehicle to the tow company.
