And I can even overwrite it back in the running game, provided you exit the game in the main menu first.
In co-op, I think the idea of "ending" or interrupting a game at any time at the desk (or in the future a donut shop, diner, bakery, etc.) together as a shift break is really very good.
Nevertheless, I think a general (quick) save function like the one you know from most other games makes more sense.
I would also welcome the free choice of time in the open patrol. Especially because it is quite rare in co-op to actually play together for 8 hours at a time.
Alternatively, as already mentioned, the XP from the normal district shifts can be counted towards the badge levels if you have 10/10 (30/30) service stars.
