Focus while driving
I checked the roadmap, but I don't know if I'm blind or if the suggestion hasn't been made. It would be really nice (especially now with the Highway DLC) if you could use the focus system while driving. Alternatively (perhaps better), it would be awesome if once you have paced a vehicle, it gives you a hint if the car is reported stolen, driver has an active warrant, etc.

How would it be in reality?

Of course, a police officer could tell while driving whether a license plate has expired, whether a driver is probably drunk (driving), whether he has used a turn signal or not.

What is more difficult is using the computer while driving to see whether a vehicle has been reported stolen.

It would be nice if these things were separated.
It would greatly reduce the benefit of the SPV, but it would also be more realistic.

In reality police vehicles are equipped with cameras that automatically scan number plates. Some of the best systems can scan several lanes of traffic at the same time. If something is off with a scanned vehicle, the system will notify the officer.

Yeah I know. I just think it would be great if it's a feature on all cars. And it seems like this car actually doesn't work that way anyway. Judging by a review.

Yeah in that case, I think to still have value in it it should have the camera in the SPV act as it should in most folks mind, as the ALPR to flag vehicles that are potentially wanted, as it is in reality. The current functionality sorta is more of a computer just pointing out obvious things like someone is drunk or just ran a red.

The computer would usually notify the officer with a sound that it's on a hotsheet so they don't have to have their face in the computer and what it was involved in so the officer knows how to react.

I really like using the SPV because of the automatic monitoring. And it works perfectly for me.

That's nice. Does it actually give a notice for stolen vehicles, drivers with open warrants, etc?

No. The surveillance system cannot know who is in the car.

It can scan all offenses that can be detected in focus mode.
Admittedly, I don't know whether that includes stolen vehicles. If so, I haven't had that yet.

OK, thanks. Not really what I'm looking for. It's just so annoying having to wait for a red light to be able to check a license plate number on a car in front of you. On the highway it's impossible.

It doesn't work too well as an ALPR, at most thr functionality resembling that would be for expired tags.

Everything else it would point out are more obvious things, pike red light running, DUIs, etc.

I know it's harder on the highway because everyone is moving quickly and the AI can smash into you (patch fix incoming), but in the city, I got used to viewing the Registration Year-Sticker up close. My date in the game is 2023, and if I see a brown sticker (2022) I already know the plate is expired. That Surveillance car is our best friend, atm.

It'll be nice if we can add Plate Readers to all the vehicles. They can just have an add-on to be unlocked through Duty Stars. I'd love to drive the SUV that hold 4 Suspects with Plate Readers.

We currently looking at the ability of a Plate Reader :-)

Hopefully it comes full circle. So far, what I can tell, I've paid for DLC for an early access title that claims it is a finished product. Cleaning debris too fast will only give you 2 points if you don't give it time to register, civilians running red lights, then detaining for running said red light and you lose CP, then seeing an expired insurance card, and giving a simple warning for it and you lose CP. It's quite frustrating, Mr. Fabian.
