Last time I played this I found out how to use my gun, I tried shooting someone and got a game over screen. Have they fixed this so I can exploit my police powers yet or is it still boring?

Boring and overused joke already, but to still provide you an answer: Nope, the game features no encounters where you can lawfully discharge your sidearm. There are many community requests for such callouts in the game's Trello board, but none of those are confirmed to be implemented in the future as of now.

if you're talking about are there call outs that require a gun no, I doubt that will come anytime soon, I mean there are still technical issues with the game just to give one example the Unreal Engine crash if you know what I'm talking about
