I've posted a similar sentiment before. The 'blip' function needs work, and lights should not break the process.
I agree, it has the foundation for a better simulation overall, and the traffic is currently the weakest point in the game. These guys are building this game from the ground up whereas LSPDFR is utilizing another game's engine that was built with hundreds of millions in development budget. So it's totally fair that it might take these folks some time to develop it the way we would prefer.
On the bright side, the developers are active on these forums and listen to the players. Hopefully we'll see some strong improvements with the traffic soon.
You're entirely correct, though people will do all sorts of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ when hailed (they panic). The worst is when the driver pulls over on the *left* shoulder.
Fun fact: You see lights on during traffic stops where you live for a reason-- police dash cams are tied to the roof lights. Recording only starts when the officer turns on the lights, and stops recording a minute or so after the lights are deactivated.
If an officer "blips" someone to pull them over and does not turn on the lights...this is how sexual assaults by police officers happen (no camera!).
The you'll only block traffic coming in the same lane as you're in.
Or you park the policecar on the sidewalk near the suspect with lights on.
