Controller not working

I'm trying to use an xbox one controller to play the game, and it works in the big picture view except when I press A to launch the game it doesn't work. I have to press enter to launch the game. When the game does launch I can skip past the intro using the controller but once I enter the menus I can't move using using the controller, only the keyboard. Anyone know what to do so I can play using a controller?

My problem:
In the steam version of PES 2020, the XBOX 360 (wired) and XBOX One (wireless adapter) controllers are recognized (in the Settings.exe), but have no function in the game.
My Solution:
The controllers only work if I switch from DirectInput to XInput in the Settings.exe in the Controller section. But then I have to deal with the note "You may have control problems, because LT + RT are not valid entries with these settings".
PES 2020 is a sports game and therefore it needs a controller urgently. Why this is only possible with two of the most popular controllers (from Microsoft) in the year 2019 using a nonsensical option selection under Settings, I cannot understand. The game controls should simply be recognized without problems and ready for use.

I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY Xbox controller wired or NON wired problems for many years it counts PES 14 ,15 ,16 ,17 ,18 19 & FIFA 16,17,18,19, ..its the same as pes2020 THERE IS NO PROBLEMS USING AN XBOX CONTROLLER ( the legit one) ...fix your game..your steam controller setting or what ever..go to settings.exe folder and config ....

Where is the settings.exe folder? Or how do I change it from directinput to xinput?

I have 3 controllers one xbox 360 one xbox one and one xbox 360 clone (win10 recognize it as original 360). All three working flawlessly in xinput mode.

Same problem here . But my controller seems to work in xinput mode with a wired connection. Any idea what's going on ??

In English: The same for me. My X-Box-Controllers don't work in PES 2020. They work in Steam and windows but not in the game. Is there no solution?

Odd problem on my side with PES 2018 & 2020. I have a Logitech (USB) and a PS4 (BT). The problems started with an update of Steam Beta, neither of the joysticks actions were captured after game load. I went back to "stable" version. Reinstalled the game, restore the joystick config. Removed Windows drivers, reinstall everything again. Found and followed a guideline on how to reset Steam conf file. Still I can't pass the welcome screen unless I use my keyboard. I also used DS4 Windows, I know how to config and browse the local files on these games, and managed to set the different joysticks as default controllers. So I think there is something else preventing capturing the events of the Joystick on those PES games. They work correctly in other games. Any idea how to troubleshoot this?. Thanks!

Same issues. I cannot get 2 of Logitech F710 (Wireless) controller to play PES2020. It used to be ok, but not sure why cannot use it. Other games have not issue using the Logitech F710, and can play EXCEPT for PES2020. What's went wrong? My driver is ok, and steam setting also able to detect, and PES2020 Setting also able to detect, but cannot use it. WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE
