Controller issue: Can't Play Game

Issue is with both Dualshock 4 and Xbox controller. I can't make it past the main menu. I can hit start which opens up the configuration menu. From there I can not select anything except press start to back out back to the menu. The directional pad works but I cannot select anything. Even trying every button on my keyboard does not fix anything. As the escape key is the only button that does anything.

I'm not sure what to do at this point. But I wish this game worked like others and accepted inputs from all devices at launch so I can actually configure my controllers or keyboard.

try steam big picture controller options, = forced on.

I hope you get a solution soon, Try changing ports , some games only work in port one and others in port 2 etc, or maybe thats just my games?

Is there a fix for this issue? I have exact same issue on GOG. I cannot play this game. Closest I got was fresh reboot, unplugged all controllers, mouse worked. Then I plugged in my gamepad. And back to same issue.

This is probably a great game, But can't even play it. Guess I'll ask for refund.

FWIW, the GOG version 1.10 has no issues with my 8bitdo Ultimate in Windows 11 - the controller is recognized and works in both Switch mode and Xbox mode. Button B is select, button A is cancel.

This one might be better with a mouse, so I recommend trying that first. ;)
