Episode 3?
Wondering if they'll make it. I'd like to take down the Magasse Sisterhood for good and see what a queen darque looks like.

Also, I'd like to ACTUALLY FIGHT an Acland as a boss, instead of just running away from it again and again.

The comic will begin updating again soon. A few weeks actaully. After I get back from being a guest at Sydney and Perth Supanova expos. If you're there stop by my table and say "hi", if it's not too busy and you mention Steam I might doodle you a sketchcard. http://www.supanova.com.au/

Oh yeah the comic will be runny the Dirty Angels storylines initally then expect an update to the main story.

I dunno if you follow their actual sight but this game was a prologue to the web comic that had going there for a while.
ahh, thanks... haven't been to their site in like a year... and last I saw the comic wasn't updating...
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Ugh, does that actually means 'no' to original question?
I pretty sure most people out there would love to see episode 3, please launch kickstarter campaign if you need resources!

I would totally be up for a kickstarter! Just got episode 2 on sale today along with the main game. Played it on 360 years ago and loved it! Going to play episode two in the next day or so when I get time. :) I can't wait to play it!:happy_creep:

I'm loving this game. It's absolutely great to unwind and just take your mind off things. Great fun. I would definitely be interested in a sequel.

I would pay for more Blade Kitten games, but I understand the difficulty in getting something like this off the ground.

Kickstarter isn't necessarly a magic bottle that will unleash instant success either, unless you're already really popular with a large group of people willing to shell out a lot of money all at once. Some of these people pay a lot for marketing ahead of time, too, with advertisements or getting these finicky games news media outlets to talk about them.

There might be smaller-scale alternatives, but at the very least, recommending the game to your friends is a way to help get mention of it out there, especially helps if they buy it and play it and share it with their own friends.

kickstarter possibly could work out for episode 3 and later episodes.
but it would have to actually be known that the kickstarter was going to be coming, and that it was active.
as many of us would love to see more episodes <3

but sadly its understandable that it requires money and profit to be made.
as sadly most things in life are not free, so hopefully something gets worked out.
as i still remember when i first got blade kitten bloody loved it.
and when episode two was released omg <3

but if an kickstarter is made i say we all should help promote and make sure everyone knows that its going to happen, otherwise it may not do as well. :winkkit:

i feel i could offer useful criticism because i think the characters and the game itself could be more interesting, and could have a second chance under a "revamped" concept (maybe a crowfunded project). im not a dev or proper writer myself, but i like to read and learn about game design, and have been playing different types of games since i was young. i think the concept of the characters and a different version of the game could work better if this things were done differently (among other changes):

- about the "Magasse" name: i know is part of the lore, but i think is not a very good name for a new title. the reason? it can be easily be misinterpreted as "massage", and it doesnt explain anything about the story. i think a title that was "blade kitten" + -something descriptive about the story- would be better. ie something about "the dark": dark is a common theme, but still could be attractive; for example "dark webs" is ambigous, but still offer something: they might be real webs, they might be related to the "darkweb", or maybe theres some kind of spider like entity related to the story; offers more possibilites, without depending on previous knowledge of the lore. Also, i know that "dirty angels" is part of the story, but i think "blade kitten" is more attractive as name or brand, because "dirty angels" sounds a bit porno and i think the story is trying to focus in a younger or more broad audience.Maybe another option could be "kitty & justice": it also sounds ambigous, and that can be attractive to those who dont know anything about the game or the comic.

- this game would have been a lot better if it was made like a metroidvania, with more bosses, and a better script (voice acting is ok, but the characters feel pretty plane and simple; they lack depth and more emotion; imo the dialogues feel they are like "robots pretending to be human").

- the manga-like illustrations seem more like webcomic of low quality, and the cellshading animations looks a look out of place in relation to the cellshaded animations. if the illustrations were made with a more realistic and higher level of detail, they would feel more important.

- this will sound rude, but the webcomic and the game itself needs a better writer or writing team to flesh out the characters in a deeper way, so they feel less like improvised 80s cartoon characters created to sell toys. the basic elements are ok, but need more work to feel they have their own identity and have more charm. an example would be kitty: she is supposed to be working as a mercenary, but she is extremely naive or doesnt care about acting fast when a new antagonist tries to play a dumb trick on her. also, with the skills of the character, some missions would have been more interesting as stealth missions, or focused in stealing a key item before a timer ends.

- some levels have a little confusing design: sometimes the main route isnt easy to recognise (a few places should have more arrows or tips), so is possible to find a "hidden area" or "alternative route" accidentaly rather than by active-search.

- if alternative routes actually worked as shortcuts to reach sooner the end of level or area, they would be more attractive for exploring. maybe if they included "hidden bosses" (like some megaman games)

- hidden areas dont feel very rewarding: all bonus items are extremely common and respawn everywhere after death, and the few rare items needed for costumes also dont feel very attractive for searching since all of them are cosmetical and lack additional powers or skills to reach new areas or do new things (like finding new areas, maybe with additional pieces of the story or bonus dungeons).

- the levels made for riding and running dont offer very new challenges. some good references for those could be megaman x2, donkey kong country (1 + 2), and maybe chrono trigger (the mini racing game).

- enemies become boring soon: they dont do much damage, and can be easily killed: if they could kill the player with one or two hits, then the player would try to avoid fighting big groups, and need to be more skillful at dodging, covering and attacking.

- the enemies that have special shields are always of the same type: if there were more than one type of armored or shielded enemy, and each depended of a different strategy to disarm, they would be more challenging and more menacing in big groups.

- stamina and health should be increased using the store, but from finding special items and defeating special enemies: that way exploration makes more sense.

- all blades are almost the same: each should have different special skills (destroying different obstacles or acting as key-items). also each should have other special effects: freeze enemies, freeze time, fire wave, telekinetic shot, or the like. that way, each should be powerful in different scenarios.

- the player should be able to switch "on the fly" armors-costumes, and blades, etc, without going to the menu. gameplay would be faster.

- The character should walk faster, and running should allow other special moves like running + rolling, running + punching (or tackling), etc.

- music wasnt memorable and was very simple: that could be avoided by making a music contest in which people can vote, and asking the online community of artists for songs with a set of qualities (n tracks loopable and non-loopable, n songs with some type of mood in mind, n-theme songs for special characters and bosses, etc).

- just like the music, voice acting could be done from making an online contest rather than formal auditions: that way dev team would have direct feedback from people to know which voices sound more interesting for players, and then not all voice actors would sound from a single country. that way the alien world theme would be more present. if one of more winning voice actors wouldnt like the terms of contract, finding a new actor for duplicating or emulating the sound people like would be easier.

- another way the characters could work, would be in a super mario 64 like game rather than metroidvania. of course, under that "frame", the game could use less drawn-comic scenes, less dialogues, and be more focused in action. in super mario 64 the castle is the center from where the character explores new worlds; in a space-like version, that could be a satellite or space station with stores and characters and different ships to "jump into" new areas outside the space station; even in the space station there could be plataforming action.

i know some of this ideas must have been commented before, but i still wanted to offer my perspective. Maybe this could be useful.
