First impression when entering the menu, all the texts now seem unsharp. What could that be, I didnt have it before. Graphics are set to ultra, resolution 1920x1080. First I thought I need glasses now. Also some texts like location names like INDONESIA, SCOTLAND are very pixelated at the edges and have some graphic errors for example in the O letter, I do not remember it like that. What I always had and is now even stronger visible is at the surfer character that the hair is very - how can I say this - it looks like its alive because of massive glitter effect. Do you know what I mean? But now this same thing happens also in the characters face, eyes.
Free surf is back, THANKS for that. So I started in scotland for my first try of this update. First thing I recognized is that the spray now looks much more realistic, nice ! (is it strongly improved now, or is my mind tricking me?). The surfing feels great (but at least for me it always has). I also like that you now can see the surfers shape through the wave, it helps a lot to not fall when the camera is not in the right position. What I dont like now is that the character model seems much stiffer than before, can it be? Also he holds both arms in T-Rex position almost all the time, this must be a bug I guess? (because I can remember some strong movement with the arm when turning in the past version). And also it seems I cannot really paddle, because the guy is paddling always, but very slow, no matter if I press the paddling button or not. pressing the paddling button does not change anything, still paddling slow (xbox one wireless controller for windows). Unfortunately I had only a few minutes to try it now, but I wanted to give you a first feedback. For sure I will find a ton of positive stuff in the next sessions. I am glad you are still working on it. Please focus on the character animations a bit more if possible, this would make it so much more realistic (motion capturing would be a (wet) dream :-) )
The settings were all reset so probably your controller is not set to the right value anymore. Try changing the controller type in the menu.
Great to hear graphics improved for you.
The character being stiffer now is a result of making the controls more direct. Everything is less delayed and this has an effect on the surfers movment too. But we wantet to emphasis on fun factor rather than smooth animation. Can be optimized though. Anyway, sharp perception you have :)
About the unsharp texts, we ll have a closer look. Sure you using 1920x1080?
juste une chose dans le mode carrière, l'exercice ou il faut prendre des sphère il faut le supprimer il n'y a aucun fun.
En espérant que vous continuerez sur cette vois et que vous arriverais a mettre un peut d’aléatoire dans les vagues. :)
Did you change your controller? Is it an original ps4 controller? Did you install software that manages it, such as ds4windows? Because we actually didn't change anything about the controller in the patch. I read somewhere that some games have problems detecting the controller when other usb devices are connected. Hope this helps.
I have a software for that, the controller worked perfectly before this patch and it works perfectly with other games. Yes it is a ps4 original controller.
I have no idea why, didn't change a thing and now everything is working.
Control feels more direct. The behavior of the board on the water is simply fabulous.
We perceive some problems:
It is impossible to turn realistic mode off.
Challenges are not saved. When you leave the game they are lost. That is, you get challenges. After your sales of the game and you reload it and that is as if you would not have achieved it.
I love that they have returned to free mode. The game engine is fabulous.
In general, a game better every day but with very little publicity because anyone who likes surfing will love this.
I would also like to make a request that you added to the game a guide with all the jumps and online markers so that I can observe the scores of other players.
This game needs more publicity. There are very few surfing games, and this may turn out to be the best surfing game ever.
2. there needs to be a 1080p stretch option instead of forcing 4k on my monitor, or a resolution scaling option
3. gamepad navigating and camera needs to be worked on as a whole, the entire controls seems wonky up and down to move camera left and right, the menus need a highlight and to work better with gamepad too
Yes, I am sure I have set it to 1920x1080 but it does not look like it at least in the menu. Also concerning the controller issue: it does not work anymore to paddle and also the camera rotation is not functioning as it should anymore. But I have to say that I have made a mistake in my post above, I dont have the xbox one controller but the xbox series x controller. Unforunately I dont have my old 360 controller anymore to test it, but as someone above mentioned he has the same problem with his xbox controller after the patch, would be interesting to know which xbox controller as you can choose "360" and "one" in the controller menu (but not series x). So unfortunately at the moment I cannot play anymore to further test this update. I hope you can solve this issue soon. thanks.
-The gameplay has changed a fair bit, It's a bit more difficult to get up to speed for airs. Its a little too slow to get out of barrels that used to be makeble. (eg righthand japan just before cliff, and the pipeline right) It seems to be 'bogging' the board on the flat in front of the wave, noticable on bottom turns and cutbacks. -these used to 'slingshot' you more..
I think the surfers hands and head are entering the water on the hard turns, causing the slowing - is this a possibility?
-edit : Ive figured it out - To do a bottom turn maintaining
speed / not bogging the rail , you have to hold the left stick diagonally down, not just sideways.
-also changing my water displacement to 'low' seemed to help prevent rail bogging on turns.
I know you guys put a lot of work in here, thanks for sticking with it , great game - best surfing game ever , ive wasted many many evenings
I think this is pretty much what everyones been wanting waiting for! there are a few glitches like turning into a 'submarine surfer' etc but who cares it only happens when you get a move wrong/too strong anyway.
The basics are now in place as far as I'm concerned ,which can be elaborated on as suits and the game develops on.... every wave different, late drops, scouting coastline for hidden gems ....wind, tides, rips, crowded line ups and so on. Now you can now sit ...drop in and hack your way down the line as best as you can....lovely.
