Paddling
Loving the control over paddling ! At first I thought it was too unresponsive but turns out my slightly old pc couldnt cope...scaled back frame rate etc and a lot better...
I 'd love it to go further, I really hope you can create a free surf which is just like a free surf where you can paddle out, duck dive through a few inside ones then follow the foam trail out to the peak then move around using line ups with the distant scenery ( folk can have their own ...that tree with that window/ hill/ church...) i think also adding sitting once at the peak / resting etc is important as surfers spend a lot of time sitting ( sitting shouldnt be made too easy either)
I loved how you can hunt the peak already, and the camera/ view ability is brilliant as it allows for greater awareness of surroundings which is difficult to get in 2d ...I thought i had the perfect spot early on only to realise I was caught inside and going to get it on the head ...the peak coming over as I desperately paddled was brilliant and funny and even created a bit of the dread feeling in the stomache! Ability to duck dive would have been useful then though.... Another thing that would be good is coming up roughly where you were ( a little inside etc) after a wipeout and try and paddle and duck your way out ...going back to a neutral restart is frustrating ...especially if you have paddled for a minute to get further up the point etc...

The potential is clearly huge ...as is my potential need to get a better pc or join the world of xbox...

Hi there, good thing you got the camera, apparently it's hard to learn for most people...
I saw a let's play where the player got frustrated because he couldn't handle the cam at all.
Also our fault, we need tutorials.
About the spawning.
You can quick save and load, check it here:
https://waveor.com/php-html/virtualsurfing.php

Means you can quick save everywhere on the spot, even if your on the wave, in the tube or whatever. quick save will save the entire status of the surfer and even the camera.
The cool thing: Its instant, like no loading time, means you can save when you have a high speed, and the try an aerial again and again.

I have picked up a gamepad and the paddling is way better, the camera control is harder but learning first with keyboard mouse help know how to use it to scan lineup. I managed to paddle out back at kirra and past the peak which I thought was brilliant as expected it to be like reaching the end of a rainbow .....having foam trails andf boils would be great for finding the peak and working out where to sit to get the wave you want ( especially if the change in waves coming through increases )
I tried weighting the tail and and nose to try and duck dive through breaking waves a curved red line flashed on left of board? I also noticed a blue hue around the board another time -what do they indicate?

The weighting of the board is great and improving the feel doing this is clearly what its all about ...is there going to be a kick tail action for tailoring duck dives ...can you stretch out your duck dive by changing nose to tail weighting..... I'm starting to get a feel for sink tail turns but it still feels seems random, I do like that when you get it wrong you flap around like a wounded seal .....

still way off getting a feel for the surfing but realising this is all about proper weighting of the board .........as it is in real life of course...

foam trails, boils, closeouts, sitting on board just off peak....caught inside...duck diving your way out....accurate line ups to use with foam trails etc for position.... other surfers ( players) in the line ...good surfing rewarded / bad surfing and etiquete punished...point of view option....

It sounds like this is shaping up to be amazing for free surfing and potentially exploring future online copies of local breaks around the world. With maybe even the emergence of online localism hahaha( where of course good surfing gets rewarded and bad surfing ( technique/ etiquette, punished)

When I keep thinking of parts of the game that need improved ...I soon realise it was me that needed improved haha ....its going to be tough but worth learning, just like the real thing!
