Lossless Scaling

Lossless Scaling

Question regarding emulation (Duckstation specifically)
LLS works great on pcsx2 and ppsspp, on duckstation its a bit jerky. I believe that to be because the emulator gives out a 60 FPS signal wrapped around the 30 FPS game rate? Is there a way to make duckstation put out 30 fps? (it always shows g:30; V:60 for me...

Never mind; clearly I misremembered or behavior changed. I'll get back to you if I figure this out.

Okay, so my old message actually had it right it seems, just DuckStation is wrong.

If I enable Skip Duplicate Frame Display, Lossless Scaling's own FPS display says it's getting 30 FPS, even though DuckStation's visual FPS counter says 60. So, enable Skip Duplicate Frame Display and you should be fine.

That said, I did my testing with on-screen display elements disabled (I could see those throwing off LS), and I don't really use LS with emulators generally; I'm not really an expert on the subject, and there could be something I'm missing.

EDIT: As further evidence that DS's visual FPS display can't be trusted, I checked the Steam overlay's FPS counter, and it said 30 FPS too with Skip Duplicate Frame Display enabled.

Thanks, that did the trick! I know the focus of the tool lies elsewhere, but believe me, this comes as a godsend for Retrogamers because early 3D consoles could not scale FPS without breaking game logic.
