Lossless Scaling

Lossless Scaling

What would LSFG 4 do?
Outside of quality and possible latency improvements.

We have 20x rn, would they just increase it to like 50x LMAO
It's not really a serious discussion, I'm just curious what something after LSFG3 would include, more features potentially? With the popularity of Lossless Scaling after the DLSS 4 announcement (Memes, mostly.) perhaps we'd get DLSS support for those who have NVIDIA cards?

Perhaps a breakthrough where LS uses less GPU than before? Honestly, my 3070ti has loved this application since I bought it, saved me in countless games, LSFG 3 just made me use it more because of the latency improvement, made it usable in more cases than just something like Star Citizen or Stalker 2 lol I used it in No Mans Sky and it was very fun to use the max settings above my refresh rate (1440P@165hz)

honestly i would hope to see visual improvements especially in repeted patterns, because when i use it on youtube and i'm watching a review on a 40 series gpu the cooler fins glitch out and it's distracting, even on 60fps. The latency is fine i guess, i measured 10 ms input latency more than native at 60fps, if it will improve more i will obviously appreciate, but like that is fine. hope to see more performance improvements!

It doesn't work well with motion blur, and I'm unsure it ever will due to the nature of motion blur, I'm sure that's what you're dealing with also. Perhaps in the future we'll get better support with motion blur? That'd be cool, would certainly put them above DLSS and FSR FG lol
Personally, I'd like to see even more improvements for low-ass hardware folks who want to go from 30 to 60 fps. It's already pretty damn awesome, but artefacts are still a fairly regular companion when I play Indiana Jones. And yeah, the repeated pattern thing (stairs, tiled floors, fences...).
Consider there are people who see visual improvements when they stick to LSFG 2.3 in certain titles, there's probably still room for work with the algorithm.

Also, the way the announcement was phrased (the FPS multiplier option being "unlocked" from the cap of 4x), I suspect 20x is a purely arbitrary cap, perhaps set by what the author expected even the highest of end GPUs to be capable of. That is to say, maybe it'll just be raised in a future non-versioned update or something, though one problem is it could make the dropdown inconveniently long (imagine if it went up to 100x or something).

EDIT: Already been quoted so a little late, but the custom thing isn't a dropdown lol. Goes to show how often I use frame gen.

i don't really like motion blur, so i disable that in every game, but in videos, where the "motion blur" is set by the shutter speed and obviously can't be turned off it's a bit annoying... But yeah, overall i mainly want to see a visually improved algorithm.

Frame extrapolation?

That's correct. If one wants a higher multiplier add multiplier=100 into the config.

Oh huh, well now I wonder what other hidden unmentioned .ini settings there might be.

Actually I tried this out of curiosity, and putting it under [lsfg] and [capture] didn't do anything of interest. Though I didn't actually enable frame gen, I just checked if I could go above 20 on the selection box thing.

Further latency improvements, less artifacts, less performance hit and less so reaching 50x and stuff like that
i hope they use motion vectors, that would improve quality with good performance

that would be amazing, but i don't think it will ever be possible, because the app should have access to motion vectors directly from the game to use them, and to do so the app would require a totally different approach and update.

Only what I would like to see is latency improvements and less power consumption if you are at GPU limits

Heavy on better quality, I've seen a few people say this now, and I completely agree with better quality, lower latency would be cool too.

It seems everyone in this discussion is pretty wanting those 3 things haha

I hope, that the algorythm is enhanced, meaning more performance and less artifacts and ghosting. its complaining on a high level tho, because the app LS is just good even now. it was really worth the money.
