Lossless Scaling

Lossless Scaling

Lossless Scaling frame generation with a capture card?
Has anyone tried to use the frame generation feature with a capture card like an hdmi one?

If it works, anything you have attached to the capture card would get the benefits of Lossless Scaling frame generation i'm thinking, like attaching an older gaming console like nintendo wii ?

Or a pc/laptop to view any video content with the frame generation feature or older pc games, etc.? To get the soap opera/smooth motion effect?

One has to use whatever program that works with whatever capture card like mpc-be or mpv and setup the correct settings as well so there is minimal or no latency/lag, video/audio is in sync, frame generation actually working.

If anyone has tried this with success, please share your setup.

I use Potplayer with RTX Super Resolution. I apply LS frame gen to the fullscreen Potplayer. It works pretty well for Switch capture.

For Potplayer use the Direct3D 11 renderer and tick the GPU Resolution. (I assume this will only work for an RTX GPU, otherwise you'll have to use LS own upscaler)
For LS, I use the LSFG 3.0, Adaptive, target 120, flow scale about 75%. Capture mode WGC and Queue target 0 to minimize input lag.

I've only really tested this with Xenoblade 3 and Xenoblade X DE. Both look quite nice and smooth with 60+ fps. XB3's visuals are only marginally better since it renders at 720p and there's only so much upscaling can do to improve it. XBXDE on the other hand does render about half the time at 1080p and it looks quite nice when upscaled to 1440p (which is what my monitor resolution is)

Hi,

what type of capture device/card do you have? What settings for the card do you use?

Frame generation works well on capture cards aslong as you have one that has low latency. I have an HD60x and it does have some noticeably latency but its not the worst and I can play off of it. I use 2x FG on my 360 and PS4 for fun and its pretty good.
