Beware a scam (Trojan on lossless-scaling lookalike site)

I was interested in this software and I fell for a scam, installing a trojan on my system.

How it happened: I was searching for the official website, after I watched a few videos about it. One of the top results was a site with a very similar domain name. I was surprised by the bad layout of the site but I thought it was made by a small studio so it didn’t raise a red flag. There is a direct download link and in the zip file you get a few folders. Windows defender put the exe into quarantine so I researched and it seemed it was nothing new for this app and people reported false positives. Btw I also uploaded all files to virustotal. There was also a „crack“ folder with instructions and scripts. I checked the scripts and found nothing suspicious but again I didn’t see a red flag although it was obvious something was off. I simply thought the developer wants people to be able to use the software for free but offers a paid version on steam (as software like this exists).


Anyhow, maybe the developers should make it known that there is a scam website with similar domain!

Please remove the link or the entire post, that site shouldn't get free advertisement. The dev knows about the site already btw.

You’re right about the link so I removed, was thinking the same. Good to know the devs already know at least.

This is a problem emulators face too; ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ buying up .com domains and acting like the official website for an emulator when in reality they have no affiliation with the project.
Though I haven't heard of one of those being used to pass around a trojan, Jesus.
