Lossless Scaling

Lossless Scaling

Mouse Delay
I have an RTX 3050 laptop with 144hz monitor and when I turn on Lossless Scaling for Squad my mouse movement has a delay but not when I have Lossless Scaling turned off. I tried capping the fps at 36 with a x4 multiplier.

We're talking specifically the mouse? You didn't notice a delay on keyboard or controller inputs?

Thats right I think its the mouse movement

I think when I turn up scaling factor the mouse is more responsive but screen is blurry. Ill check more tomorrow

Scaling factor by itself wouldn't effect input latency, as far as I know.

What is your GPU utilization while using LS in this game? GPUs don't like working too hard; utilization exceeding 85% can cause issues, and input latency is potentially one (though I wouldn't think it'd manifest like this).

Ok it looks like when I turn down the in game resolution to 1280x720 then that mouse problem fixed a bit. Maybe it was mouse lag I had?

I couldnt find my GPU percentage but its at 68 degrees.

Use performance mode on scaling and framegen. Also try using DXGI or WGC and see which gives lower latency. Also.. in NVIDIA control panel set Low Latency Mode to Ultra in your game and the Lossless Scaling app. You don't need to use any frame limiter as the Ultra setting will cap your FPS just below your monitors max. Also try using g-sync and if it flickers, change to DXGI or WGC depending. My 3060 struggles with 4x so I use 3x framegen mostly. I imagine the 3050 will do 2x-3x comfortably. Your base fps will impact how smooth 3x or 4x can be and the refresh rate of your monitor.

I think this worked a bit but my mouse is still more responsive with Lossless Scaling off for some reason. Maybe thats how frame generation is unfortunately.

Try setting your frame cap to 35fps, net frame rate should be 140. The low base frame rate is probably causing most of it but it's possible setting your frame rate a few fps below your refresh rate may help.
Also, disable the games' vsync as well as LS's vsync for another small boost in latency.

If none of that works, try capping 36fps/72 combined and running x2 - (144hz dividing by 2 = 72) and remember to test vsync off.

Idealy, firstly, you would run without a FPS cap or LS and find your visible minimum frame rate (by just watching it). If your minimum is, say, 40fps, set your fps cap to something like 38-44fps, and LSFG to x2. You want the highest base frame rate you can get because that is the denominating factor as far as mouse latency goes.
If your pushing your laptop to run x4, I wouldn't do it because a GPU at 100% usage will also induce it's own latency.

It's never gonna be smooth, either use 2x at best or none, it's not made for fps games.

Kind of helps but not fully. Maybe I need to find the best fps to cap but thanks.

Thats a bummer. If thats how it is I hope theres some latancy update at some point.
