Lossless Scaling

Lossless Scaling

Feature request: Downscaling, like DLDSR.
Would love to see a downscaling option added to this software.
Playing 1440p/4k downscaled to 1080p looks beautiful.

Correct me if im wrong, but i believe LS captures (so merely observes) the output that the game outputs to Windows. To make LS downscale a game, LS would have to be able to; 1. size a window beyond the viewport size (desktop/monitor output) and 2. work on that image despite it being partly obscured in the margins of the viewport.

You would probably have to make LS present a virtual monitor to Windows. Or make LS able to switch between your regular desktop resolution and the DSR/VSR resolution which you would still have to set at the GPU driver level.

Or do you mean make LS upscale a 1080p image to 4k internally and then downscale it to 1080p again? Essentially acting like some sort of supersampling sharpening filter.

Either way, for now it is possible to to run your desktop at your desired DSR/DLDSR/VSR resolution, run your game windowed and make LS upscale from your desired game output resoltion/window size. For some games you can easily change windows size by changing the "Scale factor" in the "Custom"-scaling mode.

*Dev, if you see this, and i'm very wrong on something, please correct me. I like to learn.

Supersampling is exactly what I mean. Some games have native support for this, most don't.

Upscaling and then downscaling could be an option.
However the 'main' feature would be to take any larger resolution and then downscale it to the current 'windowed fullscreen' resolution, at which point you have the option to add frame generation.

Really interested to see if LS could be made to do that. Would use that.

If you want downscaling use Ls1 at ratio 1.0. It will upscale at x2 resolution and then downscale.
