Lossless Scaling

Shuting down PC
Hello, everything good? I’m really enjoying using LosslessScaling with LSFG 2.1 X3 mode. However, I’ve noticed that in any game I play for approximately 10 / 20 minutes, my PC shuts down abruptly! This has happened with Euro Truck Simulator 2, Battlefield 2042, and Snowrunner. I have the enlargement method disabled, DXGI API, FPS on, and cursor restriction on. Any idea what might be happening?

Hi, that could be a thermal problem, check your GPU/CPU temperatures, you can use MSI Afterburner/RTSS for that:

Agreed that's what it sounds like to me as well.. additionally it could be GPU driver issue. I've had that before where an old gaming rig defaulted back to the stock windows factory backup state(very old small form factor that was curious about, so I bought one.. ended up hating it. small form factors are practically worse than laptops imo unless you custom build one.. I built one later on that was awesome.. so yeah it had driver's that were 4 years old LOL)

Thank you for the responses. My CPU temperature remains around 34-35°C, and the GPU temperature hovers at 64°C, which seems within acceptable ranges. I don’t believe that’s the issue.

Yup, those temps look totally ok. Xavvy mentioned the possible driver issue, that's the next you should try. Either upgrade or downgrade the version.

Oh, I forgot to mention the driver. Actually, this problem of the PC shutting down only occurs when using the LSFG. By the way, the drivers are up-to-date.

Generally speaking, I can tell you from decades of experience, that the newest driver isn't automatically the best. Go a few versions back. Or maybe just one version. It's hard to say.

If you have a Nvidia GPU maybe go back to pre-R555, because R555 introduced substantial changes.

It’s AMD, it has been updated since last month, and it never happened before. Only now, when using the LSFG.

Shi1t happens, computers/IT can be b1tch sometimes. Try a different version.

What about RAM usage/cyclying? I had an old DDR4 PC(3750Megatransfer) that kept cycling weird and causing instability. for normal use it was okay but anytime i tried to run a really demanding game or a certain types of multi-tasking(game+frame gen(LSFG/FSR3FG mod injector), browser+overlays and a game etc) it would introduce instability.. Only way I could fix it was to do a stable undervolt on the CPU and a downclock the RAM cycle mode to the 2nd setting(RAM wouldn't even work on unclocked or the first overclock or the third.. will literally only work on the second one with the CPU undervolt LOL?)

Anyways BIN/silicon lottery is a ♥♥♥♥♥ and sometimes certain vendors/generations have their quirks.. it was apparently common with that generation(11900kf w/32Gb 3750DDR4, 3080ti)
Anyways it's been running solid af after i catered to those quirks. no more BSODs. LSFG or FSR3 don't cause it to shut off anymore. So yeah.. my point is, TRY everything. you'd be surprised exactly how many dumbass things can cause system instability.. and often and app like LSFG that's pushing your PC further to it's limits can really show you how vulnerable your system really is. Sometimes it just needs that little push to go over the edge and cause issues.

I mean to be honest.. it's more likely that something in LSFG is corrupt. I would fully uninstall, delete the config file in C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Local\Lossless Scaling .. and it that still doesn't work. do a full uninstall/reinstall config wipe again but also a registry wipe(google how to do that). In 99% of cases where I've dealt with instability.. it's always been just data corruption.. and DON'T trust steam to verify cache on an app, it will do fuq all generally speaking.

Hello, I appreciate your great and comprehensive comment. I will reinstall LosslessScaling and try to delete the registry. I will use Norton Utilities Ultimate, which is the only way I know how to delete them. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to handle these more technical CPU settings, but if the error continues, I will try to research and do it.

This is strange because I’ve already tested some benchmarks and played heavier games, and this has never happened before.

Most likely hardware related issue and most likely its an overheating issue

It’s definitely not overheating. I played Battlefield 2042 just a few minutes ago perfectly. However, after turning on Lossless Scaling, the computer shuts down within seconds.

Because it demands more resources out of your hardware to make framegen work + battlefield allready have framegen are you trying to make your own 4x framegen ?
