Try different game display mode (windowed/borderless), also make sure that there's enough VRAM, check it with RTSS. Try playing at a much lower resolution or texture settings, if the problem goes away it's related to a lack of VRAM. Also try both DXGI and WGC capture API.
The fps drop to 0 for 5 seconds and then the game continue to run normally. WGC mode change nothing and it is not running great as it lower the fps.
The only way is to use LSFG 2.3.
close all monitoring stuff such as msi afterburner and nvidia overlay....without both i can run fg 3.0 just fine without problem....testing for 2 hour on mhwilds. No promise if it work to you but worth trying
I’m encountering a similar issue with Lossless Scaling 3.0/3.1.0.2 when using the DXGI (Frame Generation) mode. My setup is as follows:
OS: Windows 11 24H2 (Build 26100.3194)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti (8GB VRAM) with driver 572.42
CPU: Intel Core i7-13700F
RAM: 32GB
Game: Genshin Impact
After around 30–40 minutes of gameplay, the screen completely freezes (no visual updates), although audio continues to play in the background. Alt+Tabbing out of the game and then returning seems to unfreeze the visuals and everything goes back to normal.
So far, I haven’t seen any sign of VRAM saturation or other obvious performance bottlenecks.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I switched to WGC mode, but the freeze still happens. I’m not using any overlays, and VRAM usage is only around 4.7GB of 8GB, so it’s not maxing out. It looks like the LS overlay itself is getting stuck, because the game audio and inputs continue normally in the background. If anyone has more suggestions, I’d appreciate it—thanks!
Does the GPU run at full load? If it does, try to get it to much a lower load to see if still freezes.
Got it, thanks! Next time I'll try lowering the game resolution to reduce GPU load to around 50% and see how it goes. Previously, my tests showed GPU load at about 90% while running at 4K resolution with base FPS fluctuating between 50~60 depending on scene complexity. I’m using adaptive frame interpolation to push it up to 240 FPS (my monitor is 240Hz). In earlier versions, even with fixed 4x interpolation, I encountered freezing issues, so I doubt it’s related to the new adaptive mode. I'll update again once I've tested it.
Thanks! will try it next.
I recently switched my Windows 11 display resolution from 3840×2160 (with 150% DPI scaling) down to 1920×1080 (with 100% DPI scaling), while keeping the monitor’s signal at 3840×2160. In Lossless Scaling, I changed the Flow scale from 50% to 100% (as recommended for 1080p). Aside from that, all other LS settings stayed the same.
Under these new settings, my base framerate in Genshin Impact has remained consistently stable at 60fps, and I’m using WGC mode to upscale to 240fps. GPU load now hovers around 50%. After about 2–3 hours of play, I haven’t experienced any freezes so far, which is a big improvement.
There’s also an interesting difference with Genshin Impact’s in-game “bulletin board” overlay (likely an embedded browser). This overlay is accessed from the game’s menu and usually displays announcements and event info.
I plan to test 2560×1440 next to see if raising the resolution (Flow scale ~75%) brings back any freezes or overlay issues. I’ll post an update once I have more results. If you have any insights or suggestions in the meantime, I’d be glad to hear them—thanks again!
I played Genshin Impact at 2560×1440 (Flow scale ~75%) using WGC mode. GPU load hovered around 64%, and VRAM usage was about 3.4GB out of 8GB. After nearly 2 hours, I encountered the same freeze issue again—exactly as before, the screen locked up (audio kept playing) and I had to Alt+Tab out and back in to unfreeze.
On the plus side, the in-game bulletin board overlay works fine at 1440p, so that seems unrelated to the freeze problem. It looks like the freeze isn’t strictly tied to resolution or GPU load, which suggests a more complex underlying cause. I’ll keep experimenting, but if anyone has further insights, please let me know—thanks!
