Lossless Scaling

Lossless Scaling

How does this compare to the Skyrim Frame Generation mod by Puredark?
So I'm running a 4080 Super and have bought the frame generation+DLSS mod from Puredark. This app seems easier to use rather than having to tweak the .ini's and checking for mod comparability.

The biggest difference is that LS can do x3 and x4 frame generation, so you could cap Skyrim at for example to 40fps and then bring it to 120 or 160fps.

Is LS really that much better than regular DLSS 3.0? I think in the most light weight mod pack I get ~90 FPS with drops to 70FPS, if this can bring the FPS to 180 that would be insane. Thinking of trying this.

You mean DLSSFG? I don't know, I can't use it, I have a 3080ti. But afaik the Puredark mod isn't DLSSFG, it's FSR3?

There is a performance hit before you get the performance boost from LS but it sounds like you have a good enough base frame rate so that the latency that's added shouldn't be too bad. There's also a setting sync mode: allow tearing that can help reduce latency. You could definitely go up to 180 or at least get close though with x3 or x4

Yup. A good start would be to use a 50-55fps cap with x3 framegen, if you wanna upscale the window use the LS1 scaler. If your monitor has Gsync enable Gsync in LS, set Gsync to Windowed+Fullscreen in NVCP and run Skyrim in Windowed/Borderless mode, LS doesn't support Exclusive Fullscreen.

I think Puredark was DLSSFG, he somehow found a way to implement DLSS 3.1 or something.

So I'm a little confused as to how this works. I set the game to borderless, base refresh rate to 71 as Puredark suggested for his mod and FPS cap at 144. Do I just enter the game and press scale?

Refresh rate to 144, cap to 71 for x2 framegen, 47 for x3.

Do I just enter the game and press scale?

Press Scale, then you have five seconds to get back into the game. Or use the hotkey to activate LS while in-game, Ctrl-Shift-S.

Oh wow this really works, thank you so much. Also thank you to the developer this is so much easier than adding FrameGen mod to ModOrganizer2 and playing a lottery as to which mod pack will get bricked.

Just one more question please, so I assume the FPS cap is divided by the X# used, so if i want to use X4, it's 144 divided by 4 then minus 1, making the cap 35?

Btw, it also works with Youtube and video players. If you wanna use it with Netflix and stuff disable hardware acceleration in the browser because of DRM.

Oh wow, so you can go beyond the 60 fps cap on YouTube?

That's crazy, one of the best 5.80 I spent.

By the way, to anyone wondering if this is worth it, I somehow messed up the settings, my base FPS was 87-88 and I ended up getting 355 FPS lmao. I've never played a Skyrim Mod pack with this much FPS.

It said 86/355 in the top left.
